Meaning of an Error message

In my PM, I received a message responding to a WTB listing in the classified. When I clicked on the User name, I kept getting this error message as follows:

404

Sorry, looks like we sent you the wrong way. Let us guide you back!

Go back to the homepage.



May I ask if anyone could explain why I am getting this error message. Please note, I am only getting this error message when I click on this one user name and not from any other user names. Thanks...

Thanks for your reply. I am starting to wonder if the guy behind the user name is a scammer. I received his PM just today regarding my WTB ad telling me to email someone that is selling what I am interested in. I wanted to look this user name up to see what I may find. Are we allowed to contact the admin directly about something like this? Sorry for my questions as I am still learning how to navigate within this forum. Thanks again...

That member’s account was likely terminated. Could have been done by an administrator. Look for some old posts or replies that he created and see if you still see “member” beneath his username. If it says “blocked” or something similar his account was probably terminated.

I tried to see if this user had any posts but all I ever got was this error message. Something (possibly) seems a little fishy here. I get a PM from a user and his/her details or posts are unavailable to see or user gone on the same day??? Thanks again for your time in replying!

YES, he (or she) was a scammer. I bet the PM you got was referring you to someone somewhere who had exactly what you were looking for, right? And you got a gmail address to contact them at? Hopefully you didn't contact the email address, and/or send them any $$$$

Hey. You are correct. Here is the exact PM message as follows:

"Jj321 Sent 12 hours, 49 minutes ago

Contact Derek in Michigan he has one for sale and ready to sell immediately to serious buyers. [email protected]"

I never sent off an email nor any cash. That's why I wanted to check the (im)posters history to see what I may glean from it and as mentioned above only got these error messages. I'm fairly new here and wonder if and how I would notify any of the mod's about this? It would be nice if whoever it is could be traced or tracked down. But it may not be worth the effort. Thanks for your help and replying...
