MCT .22 cal slugs?

Of course it depends on the weight, but I'm using the NSA 20.2 gr in .216 with great results on high. If you have the Heliboard you may be able to use heavier weights.

My rifle does NOT have Heliboard, it is stock and has the Hawke Sidwinder 4x16 scope that came with the gun as part of a package deal from AOA back in the day - I bought it when they first came out. I normally shoot on ‘low power’ with JSB’s and have great results. I have it sighted in for 50 yds and the mills, fortunately, coordinate to approx 5yd increments out to about 80 yds (on 16X magnification), then I run out of mill dots…..and also run out of my ability to shoot accurately, lol. Soooo…Im hoping that perhaps the right slug will allow me to shoot a little flatter out to 100 yds, which is the distance many of the Central Oregon rockchucks and sage rates tend to sit.

It appears you are recommending the 20.2 grn .216 slugs which makes a lot of sense to me for a slug that will carry distance better than my JSB’s Diabolo’s. I’d be curious to know what kind velocity and accuracy you are getting at 100 yds.

Please advise..

Tim

I'm shooting the 20.2 grainers at 860 fps on high power. I haven't shot any "groups" at 100 yards, but I can hit a 2 inch spinner at that distance effortlessly. And I am in no way recommending you get these slugs. Just stating these are what shoots great out of my gun.

Keith.

Thanks for your candid feedback, Keith. Hitting a 2” spinner at 100yds effortlessly is very fine shooting, I definitely CANNOT do that with JSB’s - frankly I’m only a mediocre shot at best. You’ve answered my questions precisely, and I also recognize your not recommending. That said, I have placed an order for some NSA 17.5grn and 20.2 slugs, both in .216 just to see if they will work and I can perhaps improve my distance accuracy.

I received my NSA slugs today. 17.5grn .216 and 20.2grn .216. The clear winner at 100yds for me was the 17.5grn traveling at 923ft/sec in High Power. I haven’t shot for over 10 years and these slugs made it seem easy. Here’s a couple of pics. The flier is my fault as I slipped. My first group was the group of 3. I was shooting off a simple green plastic camping table with one sandbag under the foregrip, and in 12X power in scope This is 3/4 ply and it just got tattered on the back side. Thank you to those that have helped
