I purchased a used maximus in 22 caliber. It came with a solid moderator, (no exterior holes) I get get great accuracy with the moderator removed, and fair to poor accuracy with installed, but it's way too loud for backyard shooting without the moderator. The moderator only has simple plastic spacers, and washers inside (no cone shaped baffles inside). It is not accurate with this setup. There seems to me to be no way for the excess air to escape to reduce turbulence inside the moderator. Should I drill holes in the outside of the moderator or is there something about moderators that I'm not understanding?

DonnyFL makes an adapter for the Discovery/Maximus that will allow you to use any of his suppressors .

You can drill the bore out to .25 if you want. There may be an alignment issue or pellets clipping the baffels. It will still remain backyard friendly.
