Maximus 22 Breech

I just pulled out my Maximus which has been stored a while (please forgive the dust, it needs to be shot more). I took a picture of the breech. Note the red line on the barrel side of the breech. On my example, the O-Ring for the "bolt/probe" it about 1/8th of an inch in. The bolt was cocked, and then the distance from the tip of the bolt/probe to the hole for the pellet was measured. I got 0.3225 inch from the measurement. The breech could probably be safely filed/Dremel tool widened (towards the barrel, without weakening the lip for the O-Ring for the bolt/probe. I am trying to figure out what type/length of pellet you are trying to shoot. With the Maximus being around a 23 FPE airgun, too heavy of a pellet would give very poor velocity and ballistics. I would not shorten the bolt, as it would cause the pellet to not seat as deeply in the bore. WARNING WARNING WARNING.....

AS NO TWO GUNS ARE EXACTLY ALIKE, CYCLE YOUR BOLT AND MAKE SURE YOU AIRGUN WILL STILL PROPERLY SEAL WHEN THE BOLT IS FULLY FORWARD (AND THE METAL IS REMOVED). MEASURE 6 TIMES, CUT ONCE. METAL IS EASY TO REMOVE, AND DIFFICULT TO PUT BACK.
