Snowpeak Max 1 -- I'm drooling

Not sure what they opened them up to but the valve holes were 4mm. He commented on how the transfer port thru the mono block was small as well.
Yours is .22 or .25?
But ports smaller than the pellet/slug and a plenum. That is a weird design.

I'd have thought, given it is designed as a slug gun, the ports would be larger than caliber. Add in a couple 90° turns and that explains the lack of power with the factory settings.

Mine is .22. Ya first batch was an odd duck. Platform def has the ability to get there but they seemed to have nuetured it.

Here's the video. It's translated but they mistake valve for trigger.

Got another batch of the 35g peanut cast slugs from Sonny Slugs. Got them in 4 sizes and will do some testing this weekend hopefully.

Not sure there is any gun made in China I would drool over. I guess it could happen, probably not. Why does it not do what it is supposed to do out of the box?
It was supposed to be a dedicated slug gun with impressive amount of power.

Factory regulator setting ~190 bar it is mundane. 220 bar it is decent. Appears the ports are a bit small. Given the 6 month delay I'm guessing they adjusted the ports.

Nice features, plenum, 550cc air, big magazine (16 for .25), very accurate with pellets or slugs. Haven't played with the trigger, a little heavy from the factory but not bad.

Well put together, nothing loose or machined poorly.

Side Lever is smooth and fairly light pull.

Scope, air, ARCA, moderator and gun ~12lbs

M28x1 thread on end cap with no male threads external. Should have been a standard 1/2-20, no adapter needed.

Action is kinda crunchy sounding when fired with a ping.

My Snowpeak Max 1 .22 weights 8.27 lbs without scope, and 10.57 lbs with an Athlon scope. Great gun... but a little too heavy for me :(.
Ya it is a tad heavy once scoped. I had Bushnell Nitro on it for testing from the bench but will put a Veyron on for hunting in the fall. If they make a drop down for a bottle adapter that would lighten it up.

With the over barrel cylinder you don't have clearance for a bottle on it. Upside of the over barrel cylinder is that barrel will be stiff because much of it is pressurized.

Word of caution though if you take the cylinder off and oil the barrel make sure you wipe the oil off or use silicon oil because it will be pressurized.

Looks like a Huben Dream Universal would work, I assume some sort of adapter would be needed. My compressor is down so Im not degassing any guns until I get the head rebuild kit. I'll leave the adapter investigation to others for now.

Or an angled adapter like for Airforce guns.

They should have built it with the bottle from the get go. More air storage options since it was supposedly targeted for high power....
550cc stock is more than most.
But i agree, a bit of drop down on the tube and a bottle, with adapter, would fit.

The power requires a lot of air. The stock 190bar setting is a bit anemic. So you crank up the regulator. Gun also may need some port work but I'm going to wait for someone else to do it.

Did some more testing today with my .22 Max. Got 4 different sizes 35g cast Peanut slugs from Sonny Slugs and it likes the .2177s the best at 100m. Only issue I had was the 2nd shot usually pulled to the right opening up the groups. May need to smooth that slot on the mag out a bit. Without the 2nd shot from 5 shot group I was getting MOA and with the 2nd shot I was getting 1.2"-1.4"

Was able to also shot the .216 JSB KO MK2 with the flared skirts and these shot the best on the day. Got two 5 shot groups with the best being 0.75" and the 2nd 0.9". Wind was calm so should be a good rep of what they're capable of.

I need to find some time to open the ports, the thing is an air hog running at 210bar and it's limiting the number of shots at the range.

Thank you for that video. Explained loads IMO.
Seeing what´s being presented, yes. The thing needs to be opened up.
In turn i can say right off the bat that i for one would ditch the stock poppet setup in a hearbeat. That there is just wasting space as i regard it.
That in itself is a bit puzzeling to me in as much that Snowpeak have been rather universal on 3mm dia poppet spindles, and now lately for the T-rex even 2mm (which IMO is even better).
Then out comes this behemoth?
Well. Whatever.

Don´t own a Max1 and most likely never will, simply won´t see them around here.
Regardless, have souped up enough pcp´s to know what works by now and that thing there.. it´s just folly to run at them elevated pressures. Yes, i´m all good with less of a pressure drop across the reg yadda yadda...
Such a case scenario focus on making that one work right and drop the pressures to like 120-150, port the thing out as needed and let her rip.
Fact is though, i´ve seen this "let´s keep it moronic small for exhaust/transfer aso port and just increase reg pressure until we meet target" more than once lately for the low and medium hang tag guns.
Wonder why that is?
