Maverick help needed,converting to mid weight slugs for pesting?

Hi! Love the .25 Maverick w/ 600 mm barrel and no complaints but would like to setup/switch to a slug for a dedicated pest gun. I'm not looking for long range shots but just 50-80 yards with the occasional 100 if everything is right. Right now gun is mostly stock shooting the 34g FX pellets. I purchased the carbon fiber liner but not installed yet. My question is, do I stay around the 34g in a slug? Will I need the heavy liner and what brand or weight slug is going to be my best bet for those ranges? Oh and a tune if you have one would be great too! Thanks in advance!

I don't have a Maverick but I have been shooting NSA. 25cal 33.6 and 35.9 grain slugs from my M3 and they shoot great from 900 fps to 1000fps. 

I do not have the heavy liner but I have installed the carbon fiber sleeve, I think it helps especially at higher power.

NSA 29gr and your tune should be around 960fps

Thanks! How do you all feel about the heavy liner? Also maybe I will get a sampler pack from NSA and try some Zane? I will just have to see what the gun likes.

I keep thinking I should try a Superior heavy liner but I never order one. 

It's hard to spend the money when my rifle shoots as good as it does !

somewhere between 29 and 34 gr with the std liner should be your sweet spot

Anything over 25 grain slugs the heavy liner is suggested. 25 and below standard superior liner works great. I have the 700mm standard superior liner on my maverick and it’s a laser with the nsa 24.8 slugs in a .218 head

Where did you find those. Neilson doesn't list anything under 26.8 and doesn't show head size at all for 25 cal.

I have had good success success with the following slugs and speeds out of my Impact 700MM standard Superior liner. These are without the carbon liner. They were tested @ speeds above 1000fps to below 900fps. They grouped very well at 100 yds and beyond. I choose the JSB KO as my hunting slug due to the terminal performance. I was shooting oranges with the below slugs @ 50 yds and the KO's were devastating. I regularly shoot these at Prairie Dogs and Ground Squirrels past 100 yds with accurate humane kills.

FX Hybrids @ 950FPS (These also shoot very well, sub MOA out of my wildcat 600MM superior liner @ 890 FPS) 

H&N 36g .250 (.249 shot horrible) @ 930FPS

JSB KO 33.49 @ 960FPS

I think he might have been referring .22 caliber?

I was trying to set up my .25cal MKII Impact for a dual use, pesting with pellets and as a slug gun. I ended up deciding to get another .25cal rifle for pesting with pellets. It was a good excuse.

Out of my maverick sniper the 29.5 nsa shot the best with a superior liner. Everything else from nsa was good close range but 50 ans Beyoncé started to open up. I have a heavy liner now but haven't shot yet. Trying to set up for 38.5 nsa or 37 zans

Did anyone so happen to try the 29 grain nsa? Or was the 29.5 the better of the two?
