Maverick at 100yd first try

first time shooting at 100 and pretty happy with the results. The .75 inch circle on the left was the first group I shot, and I was really thinking I had something special, then it opened up a bit after that. When I first had the gun it was shooting in the low 900’s and it is much more consistent at this speed. The barrel clamp made more difference than anything else for me so far. The bullet central shroud I’m using was about .10 inches too small for the clamp to work so I had to cut shims from the old fx shroud and it worked perfect. It’s a good bit tighter than the fit would be with the clamp on the fx shroud and I had to file an angle on to the derlin plastic clamp to get the rail over it. .30 cal 44.8 fx pellets

Nice! The gun clearly is very accurate but at that distance it’s all about reading the wind.
Wind was not completely dead but pretty calm. Reading the wind is a skill I definitely need to learn. I was having so many issues with consistently in the beginning I did not want to shoot in the wind at all since I would not know if it was the gun or the wind causing errors.

@Blake1521, the wind is ever present. Shooting in reasonable wind conditions is a great way to improve your skill. Knowing how wind direction affects your projectile is key to getting your hits. The wind can teach you a lot while shooting if you let it.
On that very last group that last 2 shots were the only ones where I adjusted my hold for the wind, and those were the hits on the target.

There is nothing wrong with those groups. You’re shooting an airgun, not a centerfire. I always like seeing guys post real groups because a lot of us can see right through the fluke stuff. Most of us have shot a ton of pellet and slug groups at 100 under various conditions so we can see right through some of the stuff that gets posted. Your gun and settings are good to go.

Your 1.39 group that was a string and the odd shot out of the 1.24 group are all perfectly natural with an airgun at 100. Even the two oddballs in the 2 group all by their lonesome are just not something that’s uncommon with airguns. When guys post pics that have none of this, that’s when I start to question things.

For the first time and off his hood , I'm pretty sure his groups will be better when he uses a proper rest. And if he cherry picks the good groups like everyone does.

.30 fx 44.8 grain

For reference, wind drift at 100 yards these pellets going 880 fps with 90 degree wind:

1 mph = .7 inch
2 mph = 1.8
3 mph = 2.9
5 mph = 5.1

When wind isn’t 90 degrees horizontal drift decrease but there are vertical drift. Looks like you had 1-2 mph wind at an angle. Keep in mind 1-2 mph wind is not really perceptible.

Thanks for the perspective. That’s what I was hoping to get in posting this. Only having a few months experience with this level of Airgun it can be tough finding realistic benchmarks to have as a goal. You see reviews on YouTube etc that are 30-40 minutes long that show one or two groups and you know they shot probably 500 rounds through the gun. I’m always wondering: “so what was the gun doing on the 95% of shots you are not showing?” Also wanted others to be able to see unfiltered shooting. Given my minimal Airgun experience I think anyone can expect to do the same with this setup.

Yeah very light gust, probably like 1-2mph like you said. At about 45 degrees

Good shooting! 100y is where I decide if w rifle is shooting good! I expect sub MOA out of all of my nice air rifles

I made some barrel clamps for the TRS rail that fit the BC carbon barrel shroud aome weeks back. Did a limited run of them because I didn't think there would be a big market for em.

These fit the bullet central tension shroud system?
