Maruader magazine/Pellet jam

Help please, here is the low down

3 month old Maruader rifle

New regulator installed by a very competent professional a few weeks ago. For two weeks the gun performed perfectly.

Changed from H and N file target pellets to air arms Diabolo.

So those are the changes now what's going on,

Install magazine- press bolt forward....some times bolt will move forward and when it does it stops short of full engagement. At this point the magazine/pellet are Jamed.

On one occasion when I got the magazine out I found a very small 'O' ring(would fit snuggly over a pencil) in one of the holes in the magazine intended for a pellet.

If I load one pellet at a time I have trouble fitting it the breech but gun functions perfectly. Before this problem any pellet would seat very easily.

I have two magazines. Both cause the same condition. Brand and shape of pellets don't change the condition.

I looked at a diagram sent from Crosman ,there is no O ring in breech near where magazine goes.

Any thoughts on a possible solution?

Usually not but it takes some finesse to get it back in position. You may need a cleaning rod if you push it in too far you can use the cleaning rod from the muzzle end (you probably will have to remove the shroud if you need to do this by unscrewing the entire shroud) to move it back gently to the groove so it will drop into place. Use soft tools like toothpicks and/or bamboo skewers to prevent barrel or o-ring damage.

I put a wooden dowel down the barrel, the dowel is slightly smaller in diameter than the barrel.

Lube the O ring with silicone.

I position the bolt half way out and then slip the O ring over the end of the bolt then maneuver the bolt forward enough to get the O ring very close to the breach, holding the O ring in position, retract the bolt, then i used my fingers and a smooth plastic handle from a spoon, it is rounded and not sharp to assist in re inserting the O ring.

It works best if you have some one who can hold the dowel that is inside the barrel so that it is just short of the O ring slot and acts as a stop so the O ring does not go down the barrel.

If this doesn't work, which it has for me, then you can remove the shroud, barrel and easily replace the O ring, but it is considerably more work, remove the scope breach, barrel etc.

Take your time it is a bit of a hassle, but it can be done.



(Make sure you keep the bolt lubed and keep a positive movement on the bolt when cocking and pushing the bolt forward. Always double check that the bolt grip is down and in a locked down position before firing.)

One of my dislikes of the Marauder in general, is the bolt assembly's detent. No matter how you adjust it, the bolt detent is always too loose. When you're out in the field, and you have to make a quick shot, stopping to recheck the bolt's position is a waste of time (which shouldn't be necessary!). When it isn't where it is supposed to be, the breach O-ring fails.

I'm sure everyone has their pet way of reinstalling one. The above mentioned dowel is one such trick. But there is an easier way.

Most everyone uses their finger tip to "attempt" to get the o-ring back in, but that is the hard way. If you use the flat of your finger (between the first and second joint), all it takes is a slight back and forth action. When you try it a time or two, you'll find that the o-ring almost jumps into place with very little effort or time. It takes me less than 5 seconds now that I have done it about a dozen times in the last six months.
