Marmot vs .457 texan

took the texan out a few weeks ago for a little marmot shooting. After the wife had her fill of shooting her hatsan at4410 in .25 I busted out my texan to see how it handled some groundhogs. Was a fun afternoon with lots of great shooting. Took a pic with the last 2 of the day. The donny fl emperor with extension did amazing and let me take multiple shots before before marmots knew what was going on. I was shooting pioneer roundballs

Wow! .457 makes my .22s seem pretty tiny. I used to enjoy marmot hunting years ago. I need to go again. Where I live we have to travel up to about 8500 feet elevation to find them. Makes for a good day trip to drive up and hike around for a few hours at high elevation. I would bring back their fur and use it to tie flies. Thanks for sharing your photos and story.

Kgphotos i actually cut the barrel down 8.5 inches and re crowned it lol. Otherwise the thing would have been massive! I could have almost used it to cub the darn things haha. Fortunately I have some acquaintances who own orchards and they have a huge problem with the yellow belly marmots and allow me to take them with the use of airguns only on their property. I only head out about twice a year to shoot them but when I do its always a good time. Its about a 20 min drive from my place so I am very fortunate in that aspect. We also have thousands of sage rats around that make for a fun day of shooting as well.
