March 3-24x52 ordered, anyone else here have this scope?

I finally pulled the trigger on a new March scope. I had been looking at them for a while as I was trying to find a longer-range optic .. went from looking at a Kahles, then March, and then the 7-35 ATACR which I wound up getting. I'm very happy with my 7-35, but I wanted something a little lighter for certain hunting scenarios.

Anyways, I was on the fence in getting the 3-24x52, the NF NX8's are getting a refresh and the March website lists them at premium pricing. The resale on the second hand market doesn't look to great, so I passed on dropping $4K+ on the setup (I live in WA, they're also located here and add 10% sales tax!!!). No one else seems to carry inventory, but bhen I realized March had a big discount for prior military, I generated a one time coupon code and ordered one.

My only gripe is the MIL version is severely backordered. I wound up getting the MOA version (FMA-1 model MAR1050L) with illumination. I added rings, PTL, camera mount and the 6 level lume switch. I'm not sure if I'll regret the 6 level switch, I see that they have another switch that provides dimmer lume.

I get these scope aren't to prevalent, but does anyone else run one of these? If so, how "bad" is the parallax adjustment? Any feedback on the lume switches and general experiences with the scope would be great!

I love March scopes! Had the 3-24x42 earlier, excellent little scope! Eye placement is critical at 24x and the parallax is not very forgiving. Glass is very good and tracking is perfect. I would recommend the zoom lever and oversized parallax wheel for improved usability.

Yeah man, I don’t know why you keep buying these crap scopes? However, if you don’t like it, send me a message, I’ll take it off your hands! Or better yet, like Matt said, keep the March and off load the Atacr to one of us! Just to help you out of course!

In all seriousness, I’ve never used a March scope but have heard some good things about them. I have used the Atacr and think it’s one of my favorites scopes of all time up there with Kahles for long range shooting. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the scope and a comparison of it to your Atacr. Have a good one. Stoti

p.s. Where do you live up there in Washington? Some of the pictures you’ve posted look an awful lot like where I Elk hunt up there around Dayton, right on the South East border with Oregon. I know there are a lot of places that look like that up there, just curious. Have a good one!

@stoti - I'm in Seattle, but I'm looking to get out of here while I have a shred of sanity left! It's become highly undesirable to put it nicely.

@socaloldman - that's an awesome part of the state!!! HUGE Elk roaming around out there, a friend of mine had a stand off with a bull not far from Pomeroy about 10 years ago, it attacked his truck and left some dents lol

I had the x42 version in mil, mine didn't have the glass March is known for??, the eyebox was a bit tight, DOF very accute so you had to adjust parallax focus often. Supposedly the eyebox is easier to get behind in the x52 version from what I've read. I like holdovers so I'd certainly want the FML-T1 vs the FML-1 because of those huge mil line numbers in the reticle design, or the regular FML reticle for simplicity.

The FML-1 reticle in my FX 5-40x56, actually my wifes FT scope, lol, has .05 mil thickness which turned out much better than the thicker one in the 3-24x42 which I sold for the reasons stated.

I bought the 3-24x42 used for $1700 sold it for same and payed too much for the 5-40 but the 5-40 is staying put because it's the .1 mil turrets version.

@steve123 - that's interesting, I liked the FMl-T1 except for the center crosshairs, which I figured would be too thick for an FFP. I have read about a couple / few iterations that these 3-24's have gone through, my understanding is the reticles are a little finer now compared to the earlier ones.

I guess I'll see if they're too thick or thin tomorrow, keeping my fingers crossed. Not excited about the MOA though, but at the end of the day I can adjust.

I own a 3-24x42 FMA-1 Illuminated. I love it. I wouldn't get the illuminated reticle if I had it to do over again. Turns out I have an astigmatism that makes all illuminated reticles appear a bit blotchy. I really enjoy the reticle, though. Not too thick at 24x but shrinks down to a nice cross hair at 3x. It is an ideal air rifle scope in my opinion (other than the price).

Here is a link to a review/comparison I did on mine awhile back: March Scope Review

@Spray1Mark, indeed. My ATACR is on the heavier side, but it's one of those things that I wouldn't hesitate to bring in war if that makes any sense.

@mmahoney - the reticle in this 52mm with illumination is fairly large, but it doesn't seem like it will be a problem for me. I also have a stigmatism, the 4 setting switch seems ok and not washed out, I did get one of the 6 button switches too (and I now see they also have a third option for all low light settings).

Cricket .22 rifle, awesome rifle!

That's a very nice looking rifle and setup! Was that vinyl camo?

BTW, one observation that I made last night with this 52mm - the parallax appears to focus down to 3y!!! There's a crazy amount of adjustment in the knob. I'll put it through the paces this weekend and provide some straightforward feedback.

It was hydro dipped, they have a “rubberized” option and I opted for it. It was an amazing feeling, never wore off the time I had the rifle.

I will never score a deal on that scope again I got it on eBay for 2k..

I’m debating which 34mm high end optic I want for my beast. Since it’s the only rifle I have, I don’t mind dishing out the money.

Looking forward to your experience from the March. They have a nice military discount, but I love the mil-xt reticle Nightforce offers.
