Marauder pressure reading off after I installed Huma regulator on my Gen 2 Marauder rifle

Hi, Noob here,
I installed a Huma regulator in my Gen 2 Marauder last week. I am very happy as my best 50 yd 5 shot groups went from 3/4 inch down to mostly 1/4 inch. But my compressor fills the rifle to its normal 3000 psi level but now the Marauder air pressure gauge, which screwed into the Huma regulator when full says it's 2100 psi. Is this normal? Otherwise I am very happy after over 500 rounds with this Huma regulator.

Yes with a regulator the Marauder’s OEM gauge ends up on the regulated side of the regulator so only sees the regulated pressure.

It’s not necessary but if you want to also see the fill pressure you need a second gauge located before the regulator. HUMA makes a fill assembly with gauge that goes on the end of the Marauder tube so you can monitor the fill pressure. This is the easiest solution without permanently altering the tube for a second gauge. You end up with a fill probe to fill the rifle and for some guys you’d think a fill probe is the end of the world and human decency. While it’s an extra piece to keep track of I don’t find fill probes to be all that inconvenient. All my Marauders are regulated and have these and they are the only rifles I have that require a fill probe. Fill probes come in a verity of sizes so if you wind up with several rifles that require different fill probes you just need to take care to keep the correct fill probe with each rifle. I find having a gauge to monitor the fill pressure more beneficial than not having the second gauge and outweighs any negative to having to use a fill probe. Some guys complain about the placement of the gauge. While not ideal or convenient at the end of the tube for a quick glance the benefit of having the second gauge again outweighs any negatives for me.
Oh and one more thing, if you use Tim Hills barrel band for the Marauder it will not work with the HUMA fill assembly.

Yep, as stated above, you are seeing the regulated pressure, which is perfectly normal for this set-up. I added the Huma Air Quickfill w/Pressure Gauge to my Marauder and am quite happy with it. It does add another fill probe to your collection, but you also have a gauge that now shows the actual fill pressure along with one showing the regulator pressure.

Congrats! Just my 2 cents, Marauder gauges are consistently iffy at best, I‘d trust the compressor gauge more anyway and not worry about it. Might also consider lightening the hammer spring and valve spring since its regulated. Hard Air Magazine has a slew of technical articles on tuning a regulated rifle. Best of luck! Viva la Marauders!

Wow! Thanks guys for the excellent response and education. I will keep the additional gauge in mind for sure as a future purchase. I can't seem to find a small enough allen wrench than I have now to lighten the hammer but will get one this week. BTW, I am really pleased with the increased accuracy and shot consistency with the Huma regulator add. I will be shooting splatter targets in the back yard with my son again tonight. I believe I may be addicted to air gunning especially now that my groups are much improved.
