Benjamin Marauder - Need Help (resolved)

I’m pretty sure the older Mrods didn’t have the same baffles with a spring like mentioned. Sounds like it’s not a baffle clipping issue if you tried without shroud.

I’d just go over the whole gun if it was me and check the basics. Clean the barrel very good. Then I’d start checking for loose screws. Barrel, scope mount, etc. Make sure band didn’t get pushed into shroud(doesn’t sound like this). Then once you checked over everything add a fresh breech oring.

Good luck, it’s probably something simple

Rob

Im aware but prefer to just unscrew it.

Just scrubbed it but was already very clean.
Pushed a pellet thru and very smooth all the way until
It hits the choke and then pops out. ll looks very even on impressions under magnification.
Also understand that pellet changes can create inaccuracies too. A good buddy just got some of the new AA 10.3s under the new label and they shoot poorly !!! being no where as accurate as the older label stuff.
May need to revisit what barrel likes for pellet ?

All this happened in the same session using the same pellets. Went from ragged hole groups to 1.5” groups at 25y. Seemed some fouling may have been the culprit. Never had that happen before. Knew it had to be something stupid and it was.

The spring was added to the Mark2 only for assembly reasons at Crosman and has nothing to do with preload on the barrel. When seven baffles was Incorporated, and then take into consideration all the other components coming together as one . The variation of length becomes magnified to the point where an O-ring was just too short of a distance to hit during production.
The 113 O-ring on the barrel support does play a key role. It needs to act much like an artillery hold on a springer. I have found that old O-rings that’s hardened up or harder O-rings more than 75 durometer can be slightly detrimental.
As for the stuck baffles, these are usually the result of the tube being slightly undersize. The ID of the tube is not machined to a specific size every time.
Airgun Revisions does offer an undersized baffle set when called in. This is not currently available on the website.

I mentioned preload on the baffles, not the barrel. Doesn't matter in his case, but normal fitting baffles would slide around without that spring, not much but they would.
Yes on all my other guns and Mrods they do lol. I like it as is without the spring. Works why mess with it. Just glad my amazing accuracy is back. I love this gun. Accurate and a pleasure to shoot. Can’t make another one like it though as AGR doesn’t have the light regulated SSGs!

They are somewhat back as the factory Ch2021 setup. I need to inventory these for customers because they’re inside the tube. Not to mention for JROTC and 4H groups.
The only difference is my binding bolt set up was different. Shorter actually. So what one does with it outside of putting it on a CH 2021 is on the customer.
