Marauder gen 2 .25 (*ACCURATE!!*)

All I can say is wow. This guns performance is absolutely insane for the price point. I have a leapers 3-12×44 on it and it's unstoppable. I used Eun jins or whatever both grains as well as some other but my favorites are the

H&N baracuda and the most accurate pellet alive the Jsb exact kings 25.4 grain.

I shot an 8 shot group again today to make sure all my settings were right for the season and damn is this thing wicked ! My group was a ragged hole about the size of a nickel at 50 yards with the jsb pellets. 2 flyers but the skirts were a little messed up I just put them in anyways. The other 6 stacked on top of each other! I was shooting 3inch disc spinner targets at 90 yards with just plain on H&N Baracuda pellets 7/8 times! That is simply amazing!! A sub 500$ pcp that can hang with some 1000$ guns. My next will definitely be a TDR so I can bring it on my motorcycle when I buy it but wow. If anyone is thinking of buying a new gun or starting out I would recommend the .25 gen 2 marauder all day long if you want to hunt. Nothing will get away this year !! Grouping posted below...

I was shooting semi rested so no gun vice and this gun is out of box just cleaned the barrel that's it no mods. I will surely mod it because I'd like to get 20 accurate shots per fill right now I'm only getting 16, and I know that is mainly due to extreme changes in velocity but I watched several videos that show you how to tune it and one very informal one from airgun web tv so I'm going to try it after this season but for now this thing is going to devistate squirrels, rabbits, and doves this year! Thanks for the input as well guys that's why I love this forum so much and the airgun community. (No powder snobs) . As always Happy hunting !

...And the 25 Marauder is a tinkerer's dream. Very few of them remain rock stock. It is pretty common now for people to upgrade them for 40 regulated shots at 40 FPE (or better).
For the hardcore tinkerers, the new SS valve (once officially put on sale) is most likely going to give an extra ten regulated shots at 40 FPE per filling. BTW, according to reputation, the 33.95 grain JSB exact king heavy mark II pellet is supposed to be a superior performer at long distances. Most people who shoot them in the Marauder are tuning them for 50 top 60 FPE per shot.

One thing to be sure to do before you change anything. Check the current settings and WRITE THEM DOWN. Everyone wants to go back to the stock numbers at some point or at least know what they were. :) Mainly because they come from the factory shooting as hot as possible. Every one of these guns has slightly different settings so I don't expect that anyone else will have the same numbers are you do.
You've probably seen this elsewhere, but the Marauder usually come tuned with a descending curve. That can be improved on greatly without that many changes to the gun. Mine is basically stock and gets 24 shots all around 825. That is somewhere around 38 fpe. And that can be done easily. Tuning it more and it can be at 40. It is probably shooting 40 right now for the first couple of shots.

Welcome to the dark side. The Mrod Woody was my first trip in. Enjoy the ride!

Good idea making sure to write down the stock settings ! And I would love to be able to grab 20 or 30 shots on a fill !! I only hunt small game with it right now (maybe a coyote in the future) but I'm newer to the pcp world and haven't tuned a gun yet or even twisted an Allen bolt on the gun lol. I guess getting a chrono out is really the only way to adjust my shots but my question is what one do I adjust. I know there is like 3 or 4 main ones for hammer and power and blah blah I'm no professional lol but I take this very serious and I would like to improve it. More feedback would be great on that but thank you to those so far who have helped !! Happy Hunting

There are tons videos on this and a forum devoted to the Marauder. Travis at Wicked Air is also a great resource. Adding the TSS can greatly improve shot count. I would definitely have a Chrony if you plan on making adjustments or just to understand what your pcp is doing. My .22 Marauder is extremely accurate and shoot on par with my .22 Cricket. I have not put a TSS on it but have it on my .25 Marauder. Just haven't had the time to really work with it but I am getting 28 consistent shots.

You absolutely must have a chrono before you tune anything. You can't really tune by ear. But just as an example, let's say you are shooting 880 fps right now. I think mine was at 880 when I got it. Do shoot and record a 16 shot string over the chorno first. Or maybe a 24 shot string.
But anyway, so you get out the 1/4" allen and put it in the hole at the back of the breech block. You will locate the flats of the big screw in there. That changes the hammer spring pre-load.
Shoot over the chrono and record the reading. If it is 880 l;ike mine, I turned mine counter clockwise to reduce the spring tension. I would go 1/4 turn at a time and get the pellet down to around 840 or so. Then, air it back up and shoot another string. If you compare the two, you will start to see a bell curve. It should shoot maybe 820 at first, then climb up a little through the middle shots, them come back down. It is important to see that curve. With some additional tuning, you can a nice curve with a low ES and get 24 shots. Mine shoots around 840-ish through 24 shots. I can get 32 shots if I'm ok with the last 4 or so being 790'z.

This isn't the ONLY way and may not be the way someone else will tell you to tune. This is just a simple starter way to see what the gun is doing. And of course if you hate it, keep track of how many 1/4 turns and put it back if you want. At least you learned something about your gun.

Have fun!

Very nice results on that MROD .25. As a devoted MROD fan, I would say out of the box the top 3 MUST do's on a MROD out of the box is:
  • Thoroughly clean the barrel (Obvious benefits)
  • Debur, and hone hammer, hammer path in the pressure tube (eliminates excessive force requirements to actuate)
  • Install ART's TSS (Eliminates hammer bounce)

It has been my experience that all MROD's do not have enough time spent on deburring and polishing the machine work and stampings which introduces substantial gritty, sticky or excessive forces needed to actuate the actions. The above 3 items are in no way all that is required to make the MROD a perfect weapon but it addresses the 3 major issues with these rifles out of the box.

Enjoy your MROD as it will not disappoint!
