Stupid easy to shoot accurately that is. It arrived on Thursday and AOA really did a great job packing the rifle. It's the F&T which is regulated and has the Lothar/Walther barrel. Today was the day to try out my first PCP. After performing an initial wipe down and barrel cleaning, it was time to mount the scope, get it charged up with air and hit the range to see what this is all about. All I've known is springers. The hardest thing to figure out (it had me cussing for a few minutes) was that Da%# magazine. Once that was understood it was all a breeze. I probably ran roughly around 200-250 pellets through it today. There were some hiccups, but nothing major. Had 2 or 3 times that I accidentally chambered two pellets. Really learned to pay to attention to that. Other than that it was super enjoyable to shoot. I didn't use the chrony today, I will use that the next time I shoot to monitor how the regulator is controlling velocity over firing cycles. But, I did notice that the more I shot the more consistent the rifle became. I'm sure this is due to "break in". I assume it will continue to get better. I am looking forward to using the chronograph on it soon. Bottom line....I am super pleased with how the Marauder shoots. It takes so little effort to shoot with lights out accuracy. I am loving this rifle. It looks like it'll be my squirrel hunting rig this winter.....boy I can't wait. I do have a few questions, but I'm not ready to ask yet...I'll do a bit more research first. Anyway, I couldn't be happier at the moment with the performance of this rifle. I feel like Benjamin did well by this rifle and I'm finally relieved now knowing that I made a good decision.......I was sweating it until today.
Here are a few pics from this afternoon......
I only tried two pellets today. I tried Crossman Premier Domed 14.3g. They didn't do very well. But, the H&N FTT 5.53's 14.66g that my Diana loves actually did pretty darn well in the Marauder. The 35 yard index card was a 5 shot group. The other target at 45 yds. were 4 shot groups. The small dots on this target are about dime diameter. I forgot to use a coin for reference. These were some of the best groups. I had several that were not as good. But, these were shot near the end of the evening. The rifle improved during the afternoon.....the more firing cycles, the better it seemed to group. I am very curious as to what other pellets may do even better in this rifle. I'm looking forward to trying some others. These were just what I already had on hand.
Thanks
TR.
