marauder FFH trouble

ok so I just purchased and installed a FFH in my gen 2 .25 marauder because of claims in increase in shot count and mild increase in power. I was getting 24 shots averaging 842 fps bone stock. took a long time in front of my chrono to get there. when I was looking at upgrades I looked at several hammer de bounce solutions and based on the claims went with the FFH hoping for 30 shots at 850 fps. well that didn't happen. now with the FFH adjusted to max power I'm getting 40+ (stopped at 40) shots but my fps average is now 738. 738! I accomplished the same with the bstaley mod before but I'm a hunter and that extra oomph and flatter trajectory is more important to me and my confidence in the woods. I even uninstalled and the reinstalled to make sure it was in properly. what gives? does anyone here have experience with the FFH and getting more power? i put a couple plastic spacer behind hammer and got fps back up to 830 but the shims are causing huge variances from shot to shot. never knowing poi isn't good for hunting. one shot will be 830 and the next might be 760. will putting lighter spring in valve help increase fps? kill shot count? or should I go heavier hammer spring? I'm lost and at this point I'm taking it back to stock for my 24 shot 842 fps setting. many many squirrels and other small/medium game have died to this tune. should I just stick to the if it ain't broke philosophy? not power hungry but I do want at least what I had power wise before with the bonus shots would be ideal. thanks for your time and expertise in helping me get my rifle where I want. Justin

If I am correct, the FFH you refer to is a brand of debounce device for the Marauder. Is that correct?

Crosman fixed the hammer bouncing issue for the Gen2 release and built the debounce solution into the gun (I have a Gen2 .22,and specifically looked at that in the specs and advertising materials.) I'm wondering if the doubled Debounce solution is causing the problems described.

Yes it is a hammer debounce device. Crosman added a depinger to the gen 2 marauders not a debounce device. The first gen marauders had a loud ping when fired. The gen 2 is better but there's also upgrades for lowering ping better than factory. I really wish crosman would address the hammer bounce problem so you would get more shots per fill from the factory. Several other airgun manufacturers have no bounce hammer systems in place from the factory. Those rifles achieve much better efficiency. That's what I'm after. Hate wasting air.

If crosman addresses the hammer bounce, several aftermarket tuners will lose sales for the products they've spent time on developing and testing. I doubt crosman cares enough and probably think the regulator on new marauders will fix it. I'm discouraged though with my experience with my FFH. I know they know what they're doing but I don't. Maybe one will jump in and guide me in the right direction.

Well there are a few different kinds of debounce devices and that's the only one I haven't tried...Why? It's not that good of a design IMO. Parts for it look rather cheap. Now I've used the SSG and TSS with great results. The TSS is by far the best and can get full power shots, much easier cocking and very consistent as well. If all your looking for is 850fps I wouldn't touch the ports as youll gain FPS but kill the shot count. If you go regulated or high power that's the only time you should IMO. Only thing I can think of is try a stiffer spring or your going to hafta try another device.
