Marauder carbine (P-rod)

After playing with a 1300KT carbine and falling in love with it's light weight and portability I've now decided that I want a P-rod carbine as my main squirrel gun. But of course I have a few questions....

#1. Is the Marauder pistol and the Woods Walker the same exact gun (except for the camo)? I ask because PA lists the power adjustment as "FIXED" on the woods walker, and "ADJUSTABLE" on the Marauder pistol.

#2. Can I get a slightly longer barrel and shroud for the P-rod ? I would kinda like a 14.5" barrel like my 1300KT has. It just seems to balance out better and should help gain a tad more fps.

#3. I'd really like to get 16-18 ft/lb. from the P-rod carbine with a shot count of 20-25 shots. Is this going to be possible without going completely stupid on mods ?

I would settle for 14-16 ft/lbs. I guess, but if 12-14 is the best I can hope for then I might as well just keep pumping the 1300KT.

Appreciate any feedback or insight on the P-rod carbine and what I can make happen with it, within reason of course.

Thanks.

I had a PRod that I put a Lane regulator in. I was getting 35shots at 15.4fpe (w/i2%) using the 14.66 H&N's. Don't remember what I set the reg at but probably 1500-1600 I would imagine. Based on this I think you could get the 24 shots 16-18fpe

From my notes on a 3K fill:
Mag 1 – 691, 690, 692, 689, 690, 685, 682, 681
Mag 2 – 689, 683, 687, 690, 682, 685, 690, 688
Mag 3 – 690, 695, 687, 686, 689, 692, 681, 685
Mag 4 – 685, 687, 690, 688, 682, 688, 692, 691
Mag 5 – 692, 693, 687, 680, 680, 664, 656, 648

My P-rod is shooting 14.3gr pellets around 750fps for 22 shots. Stock barrel and shroud, slightly larger transfer port, JSAR SS valve, and a free flight hammer. You don’t need a longer barrel for good velocities. Unless you like the gun to start looking odd. I also have a 1300kt that I made into a carbine. Even when my P-rod was stock with just a good tune, it way outperforms the pumper. It just shoots a bigger pellet. When my P-rod was stock, I had a decent and really accurate 650-670fps tune. They are fun guns, just buy one. You won’t regret it.

Thanks guys. I still can't find a place that has barrels and shrouds though.

With off hand shots I like to hold the forearm out near the end.....so that's the main reason I want the barrel extended a few more inches. Not a deal breaker for sure, but if I could extend the barrel out away from my hand a bit more I'd be thrilled.

Maybe I could just add a moderator ?

Does anyone know if the Woods Walker version is any different mechanically ?

Fish, I just printed up a spacer and moved the shroud forwards 2" . Allowed me to ad a few extra baffles also.

I would like to add that these P-rods can be made absolutely silent. I added a screw on shroud extension with baffles in it. It might be 4" long and my gun is silent. I cant remember who I got it from. The Woods walker cant be different mechanically, Crosman only makes one P-rod hammer, and its adjustable. The standard P-rod has a spring adjuster in the plug also. I don't know why they would make a nonadjustable hammer spring plug for the back of the gun just for the Woods walker.

Fish, I 3-d printed some extra baffles. But you can order extras from crosman cheap. Mines the 1720t. As mentioned, don't overlook it. I made a lightweight hammer, dropped in a huma and get 40 shots on a fill at 12 fpe with 8 grain jsb. Im pretty sure i could bump the reg and run the 10 grainers at 800 for a good 30 shots. Lothar Walther barrel is a laser. 40 yard shots on pests is a breeze.

Chuckster, thats a cheek riser from a Choate sniper stock from one of my powder burners. Just checked online, you can get them separately.

Just Google "BP2220 owners manual & EVP", that will give you a download of all you need. It's the manual and a complete parts breakdown schematic with every part number. Buy the plain Maurader Pistol over the Woods Walker unless you're just Crazy about camo. Much better deal IMO.

Used P-Rods all the time on different classifieds. Easy & fun to work on, should be required for pcp 101 learning. Can be tuned very cheaply if so desired. There is a TON of tuning information on the different forums. I see that you live in MO. I'm in Springfield. PM me if your close & we can shoot together sometime. I also love to fish... Good luck

Hey fishinwrench, I would go for the reg PRod over the woodswalker. The centerpoint red dot it comes with hinders that little gun. If you really want camo, rattle can it! I use my PRod with the older IR bug buster. Say what you will about that scope, that gun isn't working past 50yds, and if you shoot at night or in the woods, what your hunting in the 30-40yd range. The PRod has enough for squirrels right out of the box. It pretty much replaces your break barrels. I'm sure you know that 1389 needs a little something. I have read about dudes using full size MRod barrels and shrouds, you seem like a guy that could modify one to the length you desire
