Marauder Barrel O-Ring replacement

First, how often should the Barrel O-Ring be replaced?
Second, what's the best way to replace the O-Ring? Is it as simple as using something like a Dental Pick to pull the old O-Ring out and the same tool to tease the new O-Ring in, or is some disassembly required?

How often replaced? Cant be answered wee other than , as needed.
You are supposed to lube that oring every 500 shots according to the manual.
I;ve only replaced an AA410 barrel oring and it NEEDED a rod down the barrel ( but much better to remove the barrel! ) and a few tries. The Marauder "looks" much easier?

Please let us know the quick/easy when you get down.

I use a 3/8 I think wood dowel I put in barrel from front to just before oring creating a wall so to speak makes insertion easier. Depending on caliber I may put a layer of masking tape on end of dowel for tighter fit. When you buy the dowel get an extra one as I have had them break for no apparent reason. They are cheap under $1 for 4’ to remove old one I use a brass pick.

Not sure if it needs replacement, but it's had several thousand rounds through it and I haven't been completely faithful with the o-Ring lube every 500 rounds. Just wondering as some shot strings had some pretty crazy deviations, so thought the O-Ring might not be sealing perfectly.

The Brass Pick is an important thing as well. Stainless dental picks are cheap, but can scratch the barrel 'cause the pick is so hard. I'll look for some brass picks. The dowel is a great idea for putting the ring back in. I wondered if there was a technique to evenly push the ring towards its final position.

When you say, I insert from the front, I assume you mean the muzzle end, correct? Or do you cut a short piece of dowel, and push from the breach end?

If your getting “blowback” from a failing breech o ring, you’d hear it when you fired the gun. If your still uncertain, try this:
Load a pellet into the leade. (You want to be sure to load a pellet because you need the back pressure in order for this to work.) Without the magazine in place (that step is important) Close the bolt. Put a soapy solution ( I use shaving cream) around the breech area where the bolt goes into the leade. Or you can simply put your fingers on the bolt where it goes into the breech as well. Fire the gun. Did the shaving cream blow away? Did you feel the air exhaust on your fingers? If so, you need to replace the oring.

I’d not concern myself with using a SS dental probe. It’s unlikely you will do any damage to the barrel where the o ring is. It’s only recessed about 3-4mm inside the leade. You would have to go down to the transfer port to do any serious damage.

And yes, put the dowel in from the muzzle end of the barrel up to the edge of the o ring groove to keep the o ring from being pushed into the barrel past the groove. Helps eliminate the frustration of getting the o ring in the groove.

As a foot note, I have seen a rare occasion where the o ring had just disappeared.
