Marauder 25 Trigger Issue

I'm having a serious trigger issue on my Mrod 25. It shoots great for about 10 or more rounds and then ( all of a sudden ) bypasses the first stage , goes to the second, and a breath of air will set it off. I mean dangerous, because it's unexpected and never know when it will happen.

The first and second stages are set to my liking and work fine until this happens. If it happened all the time I could play with the settings but that's not the problem. There's something else happening and I can't put my finger on it.

I pull the bolt back consistently and don't do anything differently, so I'm puzzled why this is happening. Anyone have anything happen like this to them, please let me know and what the solution was.

"ajshoots"I would pull the trigger assembly and check the sear first. There are reports of sears wearing out and becoming unsafe.

If the sear is good, it is possible that the adjustment screws have worked loose and need readjusted. I always loctite the adjustment screws.

I'm a member of a few facebook groups and I've heard of this happening as well. I've not seen it personally, but there have been several reports of this.

I have worked on alot of Marauders and owned a bunch as well. I have never seen the worn sear issue first hand. I have broken sears and fixed guns for others that had broken sears both gen1 and gen2, but never seen one that is worn and unsafe. I know that this issue is real and does exist, I have just never seen it. Makes me wonder if it is isolated to a bad run of sears or if it is just hit and miss?

T3PRanchFrank has a new gun (a few months old) though! Possibly issues caused removing the "Lawyer Spring"??

Thurmond

I have removed the lawyer spring from every marauder I have owned or worked on and I have never seen or had reports of my guns having this issue. I have used up to 17lbs hammer springs and zero sear wear.

One thing I do to my personal guns and most people I have tuned for wanted the same is a single stage very light trigger. Not sure if this may lessen the likelihood of sears wearing or not? Almost every gun I do is set single stage at an average of 8-10oz.

I know there is a thread over on the GTA forum addressing the sear issue. It may have a known cause or fix listed, but I have yet to read it as I never go on there anymore.

As Thurmond mentioned, this is a new gun and this trigger issue has been like this from day one, even BEFORE removing the lawyer spring.

I just got it back from a tuner and it's still the same. It's to dangerous to mess with and I decided to get a new trigger assembly.

Like I mentioned, this situation has been like this from day one. There's a lesson to be learned here and I should have known better. If I would have registered my gun, and didn't have mods put in , this gun would be covered under the warranty and would be fixed by Crosman or they would have sent me a replacement gun.

"ajshoots"The tuner should have fixed the trigger!! Regardless if it was an issue prior to tuning, I would never let a trigger like that leave my shop!!

Aaron, another mistake on my part. He told me he would take the trigger assembly apart and polish it so I never mentioned I was having the problem. I just assumed if he would be working on ALL the parts it would be fixed.

Also, he shot MANY strings with this gun so I have no idea how he wouldn't know there wasn't a problem without me telling him. When I told him about the problem after I got it back he said he never touched any of the settings just polished everything.

To say I'm frustrated would be an understatement.
