Main spring...

That’s what I was thinking. I am confused a bit on the compression chamber. My plan is to have it dry but a tiny bit of Pellgunoil on the seal which I’m hoping is enough. My spring comes Wednesday and I don’t want to wait for any tar or spend for expedited shipping. I’ll probably order the type you mention at some point though.

Crosman PelGun oil is not a good choice for chamber use. That is a petroleum based lube that loves to burn. If you use anything, use a silicone based chamber lube and very sparingly. Many here will say use nothing in the chamber. My RWS manual states to use 1-2 drops of chamber lube every 500-1000 shots. I normally use one drop after every 500. I did see a YouTube video that a guy swore by treating the piston seal with a blend of silicone grease and silicone spray before assembling. Don't use PelGun oil !

The moly you have should be all you need. Use it for the piston seal and body of the piston, sparingly, and nothing else. Any oil or stuff like that will run in front of the piston seal and diesel.

Rub some moly on the piston body, very thin. Put a little thicker wipe around the sides of the seal but don't get any in front.

Put a little moly on the ends of the spring, a little on the spring body, and you should be good to go. If the guide fit is loose, heavy tar can help quieten it a little but it's not a "fix" in my opinion so don't sweat it if you don't have any. Your piston sleeve should make a good difference in the buzz though.

I don't know what gun you're working on, but that should be applicable to about any of em.

If you are near North Alabama I have some heavy tar and a spring compressor you are welcome to. Have fun.
