Magpul bipod - squeaky and unstable

I have an m-lok Magpul bipod. It's fairly new and the features and weight are nice. But it squeaks when I adjust my POA and there's a lot of movement in the forward-backward axis.

Are these things normal? And if not, is this a warranty issue or a simple diy fix?

Back when they first came out with it, I heard negative reviews of the Magpul bipods. I don't recall what the problems were. But I decided I would not get one.

I've always been happy with my Harris bipods. Never a problem.

Not related other than it's Magpul... back when they came out with Magpul Glock magazines, I bought five of them for my Glock 19. They were about $5 cheaper than factory Glock mags. Mind you.... I had plenty of mags, but I thought I'd give these a try and use them at the range. Hoo-boy. Every single one of the five Magpul Glock mags I bought turned my otherwise INFALLIBLE Gen 2 Glock 19 into a jam-o-matic. Multiple failures to feed on a single full load of the magazine. And it was all five of them. For what it's worth!

I’ve got two of the magpuls. Pic rail mount. There’s no squeaks on either of mine, but they do have fair amount (or maybe unfair) of movement. I use one on a hunting rig (Element .25 cal) to keep it as light as possible without dropping $250-$500 on something more robust and heavier or just more expensive. For my home plinking duties, I’ll just shoot off a bag with the Element usually.

I’ve never seen any kind of recall or warranty related print on the bipod. Figured it is just how they are.

Well, I fixed the squeak with a couple drops of light oil (tri-flow). The floppiness remains but that's easier to deal with than the squeak. I hunt rats at very close range at night and that tiny squeak could have been a disaster.

Magpul makes decent products. However imo their bipod sucks. Like you said, it’s floppy. I bought one, swapped it out for an aluminum one from Amazon for 30. It’s far better. If you can afford it get the atlas or ckye pod.

i agree. the magpul bipod could use some work

I'm not sure I have a use for a tripod. I like a bipod in that I still have control over the rifle. I use a bipod in the front and a squeeze bag in the rear.

That seems nice but it takes up a lot more space. That won't work for one of my shooting positions.
