Made a new little “stubbypod” with my boys.

My sons are always fighting over the rear shooting bag that’s just the right size for shooting from our bench. We have lots of bags but the 5”x6” bag is just the right size and they both like it. So, today we decided to make my son a little short, stubby bipod that would allow for use of a small rear shooting bag. We took a clone Atlas bipod that I’ve had for years but we don’t use and upgraded the internals, lubed it, chopped the legs, made new carbon fiber legs, epoxied and pinned them and put on some temporary feet. I have some rubber feet off of an old Harris bipod that I’ll modify and attach tomorrow but for now, it turned out just right. When the legs are straight down, it’s just under 4 5/8” from bench to the bottom of the gun and when at 45 degrees, it’s 3 5/8” from bench to bottom of the gun. Problem solved...Definitely nothing fancy, but it cost no money, does the job, my son loves it, thinks it’s cool and it’s nice and low for shooting from our home bench. It was a fun little project to make with my sons.

Have a great weekend! Stoti

Thanks guys, nothing makes me happier than doing anything with my boys. Making this project today was almost as fun as shooting together...Almost! Tomorrow we shoot!

L.Leon, it is kind of cute isn’t it? Hence the name “stubbypod”. Cheap, free weighs practically nothing and it will get the job done. Been thinking about chopping that bipod into pieces for a while. It was a perfect little project for us.

Eamon, thanks bud. They’re only 10 and 12 but I can’t believe how fast they’re growing up. Every minute with them is priceless! We shoot a lot and they are both becoming studs behind the trigger!

Molder, do it, I’m sure he’ll probably love it! Everybody loves air guns after being exposed for the first time? That would be really cool to get him interested and have something fun to do together.

My dad was a Jack of all trades, could fix or make anything, knew about everything, and always had me by his side. I learned so much from him and loved that we were always together, him teaching me everything about anything he could. I’m trying to be the same with my boys but my dad was a hard act to follow. He died last year after battling Alzheimer’s for about 6-7 years. I wish my boys could have known him better when he was still lucid. They got to have some time with him but they were so young, they don’t remember much of him.

Have a good one Augie!
