Maccari FWB 124 Walnut stocks

I went on a small buying spree lately. Jim Maccari was selling FWB 124 walnut stocks ready to go for very reasonable prices. It's not the first time I've been bitten by the custom stock bug. Lol. Here are some pics I took while on a recent visit to NH to see my old pal Scott Blair. Some are of an older design next to his latest. One is a factory original next to a JM Custom..

The one on the left is Scotts 127 in an older style JM srock. I really like the looks if it.

The one on the right is belongs to Mike Obrien. Love those beautifil mineral lines !

Gorgeous, John! We can always count on you for some FWB pic.

I'll add my JM stock to the mix: Got lucky on this one about a year ago. The seller only posted a few very bad pics and didn't know if it had good seals. It was hard to tell, but it looked like a nice walnut stock, so I took a chance and couldn't believe it when it showed up. And, as an added bonus, it had been clearly been tuned by somebody who knew what they were doing and shot beautifully! 

The bottom one is factory beech, but the nicest example I've seen.

With regards to Jim's Emperor Grade Stock, oh how I wish I could of viewed it's TRUE color! I thought more than once about that stock and viewed it daily (one of a kind for sure) but due too it's highly red in appearance and not Being Left handed I decided to pass, not to say I didn't have to sit on my hands as to not pull the trigger!!. Like you the 124/27 is my favorite springer. One day....... one specially choosen 124/27 will shed its work clothes, and will be adorn with Formal Dress Ware! I think the term is call metamorphosis!

That makes 2 of us. I thought it was too fancy for me. I would just be nervous about using a rifle in such a nice piece of wood. Imagine if you ever actually scratched it or worse? Personally, I would be sick in my stomach if I did. 

Best left for the guy who has a place where he can hang it safely on a wall and enjoy seeing it every day. For me, I like to shoot mine. Lol I'm no Emperor, just a regular guy.

When I bought my FWB124D , it was from Robert Law at the original Air Rifle Headquarters. I had heard of Beeman just a little later. 1979 , way before the internet. Serial number 18866. Still have it , and rebuilt and shooting fine. Robert has an extra grade FWB124D , restocked and tuned as well as was known back then. It was the F-120 , and the forearm so thick top to bottom that the cocking lever grove was not there. The cost was near double what the FWB124D was , which was hefty. My friends thought I had lost it to pay so much for a "BBgun" , but I had drunk the kool aide . That was after reading Robert Law's reasoning on why a German made spring gun was so much better then what America was stamping out. I was not disappointed , and still am loving spring powered guns 41 years later. The stocks on the FWB124D 's are beautiful. Good choice !

cool option. Here's one next to a Steve Corcoran custom and a factory walnut 124. The Law design was definitely different. As you can see, the different types of stocks for the 124 platform can vary greatly. What doesn't change is the superb accuracy and ease of use.
