M-Rod vs M-pistol

The P-rod (Pistol Marauder) is an entirely different animal than the M-rod. Figure on 24 shots at about 14-15 FPE. .22 cal only.

The P-rod is super light weight and some have found stability issues with it. It is hard to hold still off hand, for me anyway.

The shoulder stock is completely the wrong shape for use with a scope. You need to raise the comb by +1 inches or more.

I am not busting on the P-rod, I kept mine and let the M-rod go to another home. Just pointing out that there are more difference than similarities.

For a pistol/carbine that is closer to the M-rod for power, adjustment and shot count, I would suggest the NP-O3 from Kral.

The Mrod will shoot at a considerably higher velocity, I have a Prod from Airgun Revisions, so custom tune etc, and it shoots 15.89 at 680 fps. It is a sub 50 yard gun IMO, I get 16 shots on a full at this power level.

I did a bstaley tune on mine (O rings over the valve stem) to get it up around 30 shots with about half 18.5-17.5 fpe and the last half dropping down to around 16 fpe. I can get 20 fpe but only for about 1 magazine of shots. I don't have a Marauder rifle but I bet it can go far higher in power and shot count.

On the plus side, with a Hawke Vantage 2-7 scope and my home made stock mine is right at 5 lbs. It is very quiet with a buck rail moderator on it (76 db) and I've shot 3 shot groups as small as 1/16 with it at 25 yards. Mine likes copper plated H&N FTTs best but shoots cheap Crosman domed and hollow points fine.

Squirrels fall pretty quick with a 25-30 yard shot.

Very capable and versatile platform, as is the rifle. Your question, shot count will go down going to a p-rod. For accuracy I would say maybe they can hold, depending on the range because one p-rod shoots as well if not a little better. Both like a range of pellets too. Different trigger sets so one you may prefer and shoot better with. But if both were stock, the rifle would edge the pistol out at 55yds. Regarding a suggestion to alternatives, i got nothin’. I love my madauders.

Well Ill be danged. Correction will be noted.
Correction, SqrlHntr; the TEXtreme Pistol Champ did not shoot a P-Rod. He shot a Marauder converted to pistol. Apparently someone found it easier to fit "P-Rod" on the equipment line of the score-card (or wherever the error originated).
Dang, thats cool, appreciate the correction and noted for edit.

The few shots Pablo had me take with his M-Rod-P the day before the TFT pistol match convinced me I was (already) beaten... before taking my first shot in the match. As it turned out, I was wrong about that.

Since Pablo missed a shot in the match (as in ONE), I wasn't beaten until I took my SECOND shot of the match! But I didn't know that until all the score-cards were turned in.

Truth is, by the time I missed my fifth shot (of my first five shots) I had violated my own credo, "Never give up!"🤬 Only after missing that fifth of my first five shots did I realize I'd taken those shots with my elevation turret a half-revolution off😤; SO totally had my few shots with Pablo's M-Rod-P the day before decimated my psyche!😵‍💫

I'm now building my own Extreme Field Target pistol. Thankfully I have almost six months to (re)build my Extreme Field Target pistol confidence.🥵

My psychologist assures me six months of weekly sessions can make a difference in restoring my confidence... once I put the proceeds of a second mortgage on my home in an account set up for weekly automatic drafts to Psychologists R Us.🤔
