Lubing zan slugs

Does or has anyone tried shooting zan slugs after lubbing? I brought out my .177 AT44 for the first time in MONTHS. First and foremost this gus has always been a slug shooter, it loves 20gr zans and 16gr zans. It likes 20gr NSA and 15gr NSA, and I think it likes 13.43gr JSB from what I can remember but I haven't tested the jsb variant yet. Now it shoots then so well I dont really care how fast they go, I've been able to shoot golf balls out to 178yds. But I just chronied the slugs for the first time in months and was reminded that it baffled me how the 15gr NSA move 100fps faster than the 16gr Zans. The NSA are going 923 - 930fps, while the zans are going 822-830fps. And I can understand that bearing surface can take play in this, but the slugs are only 1gr apart from the same weight. The zans are shooting as if they weight 3gr heavier.

I'm wondering what a micrometer on the both of them would read? I'm going to guess the ZAN slugs are a touch larger in diameter than the NSA. I've also read that the 177 caliber is inherently harder to push air through those tiny transfer ports and bore, so the percentage of extra pressures because of a larger diameter and length probably play a big role in speed.

Edit to add: I roll all my ammo in a pellet tin with SuperLube pure silicone oil soaked into the foam, and load them wet. The speeds and bore are so much more consistent and easy to clean.

Thank for that, the Zans do look a bit wider although they state to be .178. I figured I would eventually do just that with the zans to see what kind of fps increase it would generate and it would be consistent enough and remain accurate enough to continue doing so.

I hand load NSA 12.5s and Zan 13s into my Leshiy classic. The NSAs require more push, implying they’re a little wider. Also FWIW, shooting the same FPE, the Zans expand quite a bit more, presumably due to softer lead.

Hmm, I will have to see if I have the same thing going on with the leshiy. I haven't paid too much attention with the difference, mostly because I just shoot the 10gr zans and the 13.43gr jsb KO out of it.

Okay, so not sure why but the gun is shooting normal now. So 16gr zans are going about between 890 and 905 now. Maybe I checked the speed on a mostly empty tank? Don't think so idk. Either way they're still outshooting everything else I own.
