Hi I have a panthera hunter compact and I tried to lower my reg pressure however the screw blew out!

You should be threading the regulator screw clockwise, not counterclockwise. Screwing it IN lessens the pressure, however, you need to degas in order to reduce the pressure or risk damage of the regulator.

I second what Revoman says. It is always wise to degas the rifle when trying to lower your reg pressure.
