Low power Pdogs with .177 Veteran

I had a spare 45 min a few hrs ago so made a pass through some irrigated fields where I have permission to pop pdogs. Was mostly a scouting mission, not so much to see if there's dogs there (cuz there's ALWAYS dogs there) but mostly to see how much ground cover we'll be dealing with for the next few months.

Grabbed the .177 Veteran on the way out the door. It's currently doing 925 with the JSB 10.34s. So just under 20fpe.

(More on the gun here if interested... https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/veteran-standard-177-poly.1244892/)

Got 10 or 12, furthest was 127 yards, through the neck, closest was this guy at about 30, head shot (hence all the blood). Most were 60+ yards though. Another one to note was a lung shot @ 90 yards. He wasnt sure what hit him and wandered around for about 15 seconds, all hunched up. Got to see both sides of him in that walking-dead state, and there was blood on both sides, so 20 fpe at the muzzle is enough to through and through one at the vitals at 90 yards. Keeled over and was dead.

This one was at about 75yds, and there's another one behind him that was probably 90-95 (lasered the one roughly in the middle of the image to get 75 yds) phone camera zoomed in.

The ones in the weeds were a bit tougher but I could see mirage and pellet hits where I got most of them, which was up and down a wide and bare dirt road though the fields. For the safety minded, the fields are behind gates and private property so nobody out there but me.

Cool thing about the low power approach is that it kicks up such little dust that they don't get very alarmed as shots are walked in. And at 127 yards and 20fpe, shots need walked in!

Laser rangefinder and then strelok for elevation. Dust direction from pellet hits on the ground and mirage for windage. Started with 0.032 for the BC but was shooting over the top of them. Bumped it up to 0.035 and started connecting. I'm guessing I need to analyze the scope height or some other parameter b/c I doubt the BC is actually 0.035.

Fun stuff though.

Good shooting. I wouldnt call a .177 @ 20 fpe low power unless you mean low powered compared to what a .25 or .30 puts out.
Thank you.

Yes, low power relative to the 40-70fpe stuff most guys are shooting heavy pellets at, and def low power relative to the majority of the slug craze up there around rimfire power levels. ( I do love me a good 6-10fpe .177 springer, which is more in line with low power in the .177 realm, that'd really up the difficulty factor though, lol).

I use .177 for lots of stuff and enjoyed my bsa s10 set at 10 fpe for ground squirrels.

Just excellent shots there and at super long ranges in .177! Woo Hoo! Those are some BIG pdogs! Like you, I shot a large female ground squirrel @ 80yds thru her lungs..she was just laying there when it hit....she jumped up, looked around like a fly bit her, laid back down then keeled over! LOL! Very nice CLEAR photos! Again, great shooting with your Taipan!
