Loving the EDgun R5 30cal

So I just picked up this Edgun off the forums here, and I'm loving it! I decided on the Edgun, because I wanted a 30 cal slug gun. I was going to go with another FX Impact, but I just didn't want to spend 2k, then another several hundred in upgrades to get it up to power.

Only thing I have done to the R5 is huma regulator. This gun takes a little practice with the trigger, but I'm mastering it slowly. As I get better, the gun gets more accurate. 

Here are some groups from today at 100 yards. No point in showing 50 and under, they are just one hole. I am shooting NSA 47.2 grain slugs at 900fps.

First group- 10 shot - Not to impressive.

 second group - 7 shot - getting there

Third group - 7shot - respectable, 6/7 .75in

Fourth group - MOA 10 shot

I agree, I have always been a wood stock guy, but I'm loving this synthetic stock.

What’s the reg at? Wondering if you can get this gun up into the 130-180FPE range. That would be a very versatile round!

Great gun I love the black stocks for hunting , also I shot from 48 to 61 grains in my 30 caliber . Jeff it can get about 95fpe stock with Huma reg with No mods , You can double power if you tweak things however the gun is a hammer stock and is very accurate and very quiet stock , I found this gun can shoot alot of different ammo it is not real picky it is one of my favorite pcp guns ., keep us updated with yours . also what is your reg pressure with Huma ?

Reg is set 130 right now. Might make some adjustments in the near future.

One nice thing about the synthetic stock is the holes in the fore grip are 80mm apart. So adding a pic rail couldn't be easier. Just need slightly longer screws. I also made a washer for the screw in the trigger guard.

Are you referring to these two screws that hold the forend piece to the main body of the stock being 80mm apart? If so, what picatinny rail are you using?



Edit: The washer for the trigger guard is a great idea.

You can use a different one, as long as the holes are 8 spaces apart. Each space is 10mm.

Also that one is M lok, so you have to grind off the tabs on the bottom so it sits flat.

One of the Atlas BT-17 picatinny rails with a slot would work great too.

When I bought it I really wanted the standard length but it had just sold out. Saw this one still in stock so I nabbed it and yes it’s long at 39.5 inches lol. I’ll buy some lugs after holidays get over saw a post were some one shot 62gr slugs but I’m thinking lighter ones will work only shooting squirrel. And from what’s been posted the r5s like slugs the 47.x have been popular. Now I need the synthetic stock the wood scuffs to easy. I can say for the power their fairly quiet too.

Thanks for the info and the link. I already mounted my picatinny rail using a Magpul MOE 5 slot rail about 2 weeks ago. I was just wondering about another alternative and at least others can get an idea of mounting the picatinny rail without drilling into the stock like I did.

Ditto.. almost got rid of my .30 long due to neglect. It sat for probably 4-5 months, then one day I took it out to test Dale's 62 grainers, and before I knew it, I was renewing my vows with her  

It took a little bit if barrel work to make it as special as it is now. After that, I decided to get a synthetic stock for the rainy season. I put an MOE 7 on it which worked out really well - almost as if they were made from the same composite material..

I do prefer the walnut though as a matter of preference. It's 33 grams lighter, but it's nice having the synthetic with the nasty wet weather here in the PNW. I'm using the Atlas BT17 rail on the walnut, and I used giant T-nuts on both stocks because I'm paranoid about hurting my baby  

It might not have the power of my external plenum boosted MKII, but like @jwrabbit123 says - it's not real ammo picky, and the 60-66gr slugs still hit pretty damned hard in the low 800's!
