Lots of News From the 2018 SHOT Show

There's loads of interesting new products being launched at the SHOT Show. The big trends are clearly regulated PCP air rifles. They's everywhere at all prices from $300 and above. These run all the way from the new Benjamin Fortitude at $300, waaay up to new Daystate and Air Arms models at well over $1,000. If any new PCP is not regulated, it's clearly well outside the mainstream of new product introductions this year!

Another interesting trend is that at least three manufacturers are offering low(er) cost "gun only" compressors. The Benjamin Traveler, for example, is designed to be powered by a car battery (or 120 Volt mains power with an included transformer). It is said to fill a Maruder from 2,000 to 3,000 PSI in about 3 minutes. Availability is scheduled for mid-year 2018 and the price about $650. Yes, I'd like it to be lower, too, but this is clearly a step in the right direction to reduce the cost of charging PCPs. The lower the cost to fill, without a pumping work out, the more people are going to buy PCPs and the more we all benefit...

I'm publishing news stories and photographs as fast as possible in Hard Air Magazine, so check it out daily - or even more often! - for the remainder of this week, while the show is running. Most posts will appear in the evening Las vegas time, for obvious reasons :)

Thanks for your support everyone!

I've just posted another SHOT Show update in Hard Air Magazine. It mainly covers some of the many new products being shown by Umarex USA, including the Hammer big bore airgun, US-assembled versions of the RWS 34 break barrel and a new cartridge-loading, lever action BB rifle, the Legends Cowboy.

As for pellets, H&N is not exhibiting at the SHOT Show this year and so I don't have any specifics about new H&N products. However I would expect new pellet announcements from the German company at the IWA Show in Germany in March.

There is a new pellet manufacturer (to me at least) - Rifle pellets - exhibiting at the SHOT Show, however. This is a Brazilian company and they have a wide range of pellets and say they should soon have a distribution agreement in the US.

More reports to come in Hard Air Magazine as soon as I can manage it...
