I've had a number of scope mounts from Crosman that have all loosened after firing a couple of times with a GAMA Whisper. I have a dovetail to picatinny coming soon and wondered if I should just locktite the Crosman screws? Opinions? Advice?
Yeah I would clean the screws with rubbing alcohol or something to degrease and re install them with blue locktite. Let it sit for a while and you should be good to go.
If you're shooting a Gamo Whisper, you need mounts with a stop. Springers like to creep. The mounts will have an "anchor" that you screw down into the dovetail rail, then put your scope down onto your mount. Hope that helps.
Do it right. Get an in-lb torque wrench and torque the bases to 30 in-lbs and the ring caps to 15 in-lbs. Then it will never slip and you will always know if you have tightened them right.
To be clear, my scope is mounted on Crosman 1" medium profile dovetail rings (large scope needed the height so not to rest on the barrel). The ring screws stay put; its the rail that connects to the dovetail that loosen. I think the dovetail rings will connect to the picatinny Sniper Rail mount. I don't know if that has an anchor that sets into the barrel to take up the recoil. If not, what then?
