Mod Edit: moved to correct forum

Been struggling to find JSB EXACT KING pellets but have been able to easily obtain DIABLO FIELD pellets.

They appear to be the EXACT same pellet in appearance and field performance and the latter is much cheaper.....what's going on here ?

Please educate me.

FX , Air Arms , Edgun , all made by JSB !

Slightly different in skirt design on some but all made at the JSB factory 😋

As are Cometa and probably a few others. Most airgun manufacturers only make guns. Pellets and accessories are usually sourced from specialist suppliers and have different labels attached and are marketed under the gun company's brand.

...and Daystate Rangemaster Sovereign pellets. Also made by JSB.

I only started using JSB and AA pellets within the past year, before that I have been using old stocks of CP 7.9 in my TX200. With the newer lots of CP being less quality I made the switch to JSB and then to AA due to the JSB being harder to find. After some experimenting I have found the AA to be more consistant in my TX. Many have stated the skirts are thinner on the AA pellets, but I have found the opposite on the 8.4 gn .177 pellets!! Actually the AA skirts are slightly heavier, this also makes the AA pellets slightly heavier. Over a number of random test weights with JSB pellets the avg weight was actually 8.2 gn where the AA pellets avg 8.3 gn. I can only assume this is due to the slightly heavier skirt. I also find the AA pellets to be more availiable than the JSB. Not sure if this is due to folks chasing the brand name, or do they find an advantage???

Marley5,

If you look very closely at those 2 pellets that you have a picture of, they are not the same. The pellet on the right has a longer surface from the thinnest part of the pellet, to the widest part of the head. Also, if you look inside of the skirt, there is a good chance that the insides are not the same as well. Just an observation. A few years ago, I compared the differences between the JSB 8.44 grain pellet, and the Air Arms 8.44 grain pellet. Both of these are .177. It can be found on my YouTube channel Field Target Tech.
