Looking to increase utility of SCBA tank.

Guys,

Have a SCBA tank that I would like to use for other things. The tank I own is an AIR tank purchased from Pyramid. It came with a quick disconnect fitting.

I would like to use the tank for off-roading by being able to refill tires that I've lowered the PSI on.

Secondly, I would like to use the tank to "blast" MTB tire beads onto the rim for tubeless setups.

Can anybody steer me in the right direction to acquire fittings for the processes described above?

Thanks Much!

I repurposed an old Argon/Nitrogen regulator and put on a fitting for SCUBA DIN300

We use it in the shop mainly to fill up Porsche air suspension systems, needs 17,5bar~250psi clean air, no probem.

In a pinch we also use it to fill tires on stranded cars that needs to get moving asap.

The key is to have a regulator with a set pressure or else you risk blowing up (MTB) tires fast. For that you need volumes of air not 200bar~3000psi unregulated and a WAG regarding pressure.

If theres interest i'll snap some pics monday.

Hi All,

There are available fittings to go from female quick disconnect to female DIN300 or CGA 347 to DIN300. Then any 1st stage SCUBA regulator will take the output to 120-140 psi. Unfortunately the 1st stage SCUBA regulator will set you back about $80 and the tank fitting about the same. You may get lucky and find some off-shore hardware for less on one of the bay stores. It is also good to get the fitting to go from 3/8-24 UNF to 1/4 NPT to connect your utility hose.

I use this set-up for airing car/bike/tractor tires and to run impact guns or air ratchets in the field. Works great for portable nail-gun use also. Good use for when your tank is "low".

I've got a DGX Gears First Regulator w/OPV and got a fitting to go into one of the low pressure ports (3/8-24 UNF) with an o-ring. The OPV is nice so if the regulator creeps you don't blow a low pressure hose.

Enjoy,

Nugria

It was put together with stuff from the shop and a couple of lathe turned bits. Thats why there is so many adapters ;-) So cost was nill.

It will let me adjust output pressure, inflate tires + and most importantly fill Porsche airsuspension systems. It will hook up to both DIN 200 and 300 bottles.

You could (Note, just me but I would not) try it like ole Timmy Mac.

Or august and the fitting you need (these do work well) https://www.augustindustries.com/product/adjustable-regulator-0-6000-psi/

Knew a Man in WI who built Cabins rural and use compressed air for most all tools of a half dozen Faber 110cf 3,400 steel tanks.
