Looking to buy MOA/MOA Scope

I have been looking at MOA/MOA scopes to go on a .25 Taipan Veteran. I much prefer MOA reticles and find them

much simpler than working with Mils. Primary uses will be tuning/shooting groups and hunting out to + or - 100 yards. I have found three I am interested in:

1. Sightron STA 3-16x42 MOA $449.99 (Trenier)

2. Aztec Emerald 3-18x50 MOA $399.99

3. UTG 2-16x44 SWAT UMOA $279.97

Any of you have experience with any of these scope? I am open to comments and or suggestions? Thanks

tsmith thanks. I checked out the Diamondback, I like it. My only concern is the FFP reticle, never owned one. I understand the benefits of FFP (holdover or windage corrections on any magnification) especially for hunting, but my understand is that the reticle gets heavier/thicker as you go up in magnification. Some critics of FFP say the reticle may barely be visible at lower magnification and may get to heavy on higher magnification and this interferes with precise aiming. What's you opinion on this? Is it a non issue? You obviously like the Diamondback. Thanks

Check out Nikon Black. I am returning a vortex FFP scope. For the reason stated.

Well for me not a problem. Truthfully, the reticle I don’t think will be an issue. It is very thiN. In fact it almost kept me from buying it. I will admit that if you turn the power down to 6x, the MOA marks are so small and close together, I would say they are pretty useless. I have only used it in the 10-20x. And it is good! I can’t see the crosshairs ever being too thick. They are nice. I guess here’s my take. 10x up to 24x you won’t have a problem. Both FFP and SFP have pros and cons. If you are going to leave your scope power at one setting then a SFP scope will be the way to go and just memorize your holdovers. If u change power it will always stay the same.

I love the Vortex FFP too. I've heard people complain about the reticle as you mentioned but it doesn't bother me a bit. I use it between 10-20 power almost always. Once you use a first focal plane, you'll never go back, the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages if you use different magnifications often. I got mine for $284, for that price, it can't be beat!. Good luck with your decision! Stoti

I have a Sightron 26013 S Tac Series Riflescope, 3-16x42mm, MOA-3 Reticle and absolutely love it. I don't think you can buy a better scope in that price range, the glass is very clear from 6 to 16 power does not lose clarity at high power. The reticle is fine with a floating dot in the center, some find the reticle to fine but I like it along with the fine floating target dot. Mine is mounted on a 11fpe springer with about 3000 shots through it never losses zero and the turret clicks are very sharp better than a SWFA 16x42 with much better glass.

I think being as new as it is, it is a hidden gem so far. I would say it is comparable to the Aztec scope but less expensive in the FFP category.

I also really like the Sightron S-TAC series. I have the 4-20 X 50 with MOA-2 reticle.

Stoti I missed your post, awesome looking gun! Where did you get you scope for that price?

tsmith I went to Scheels web-sight closest store is about 800 miles. I am about an hour away from a Cabela's and seven miles further a Bass Pro. Neither have any scopes of interest to me though. Will have to rely on on-line sources. Scheels does have free shipping. Why did you ask?

Roger, elh, Sightrons are famous for their glass, now doubt they are outstanding. Mighty tempting.

You dont have a price limit so im just going to throw a sig sauer tango6 44 or 56 objective lense with moa milling reticle

800$ (old 44 objective, see my review) and 2000$ for the fancy tactical scope.

I too have the Sightron S-tac 4-20 & love it. The clarity plus the moa-2 is one of the best reticles I’ve used, air or PB. I love how the hash marks run all the way down. Mil dots have the deep posts on the four sides and limit my long distance shooting. But I can see how an illuminated center dot. The reticle is super fine, which is great in daylight, but in shadows or low light the reticle can get harder to see.
