Like the title says, I'm looking for places to shoot pests, and folks to shoot with. I'm in Central Oregon. Any tips on how to find places? Anyone want to get together and go shoot. I'm thinking at least a Christmas valley air gun shoot would be fun.

Look for farms, dairies or places that raise livestock and or store grain in your area. Then go ask permission.

Have a plan and present yourself well. Also be ready to demonstrate some skill/proficiency on the spot.
You'll need to be able to hit a pigeon at 40yds for starters, so identify your place, pick a nice day to stop in and be ready to show that you know what you're doing.

Try to use phrases like "get rid of" and "take care of". If asked how you do that, say something like "I use a silenced precision air rifle" rather than "I shoot them".

My initial answer is Air Rifles are my hobby and pest control is just an extension of it.
Why don't you charge?
I like to give back to the community and others in need.....this is my way of giving back to farmers.

Being a working person helps. Say whatever you need to say to show you're a responsible and law-abiding person, but keep it simple.

One thing I've found to be really helpful.
Fill out some 3x5 cards with your personal info. Name, address, vehicle info, and all contact info. Maybe even driver's license.
Hand it to owner/operator right up front when you introduce yourself. Let them refer to the card as you ask permission.

If asked I'd recommend saying you use a "pellet gun" and that they are very quiet and effective. To the common person a "pellet gun" is a Crosman 760 or something like it. They might feel safer with a "pellet gun" on their property than a .204, .223 or 22-250 making a ton of noise. This has worked for dozens of property owners for me and some of them are intrigued with what I bring out.

I'm going east mid april for some jack rabbit and yote hunting, then sage rat shooting around memorial day. I can't wait to show up to the rat shoot with the PCP and see everyone's faces.

I'm in the snow coming down in Bend visiting family. Fort Rock area is most likely closest. Then Crane area and Dairy Bonanza a bit further. As for permission the hardest part is not finding the fields, but finding the owner. You will be contending with Gunfire and centerfire hunters.
