Looking for input on 1st pcp

Really my first air gun in like forever. Was interested in a bullpup probably. The Hatsan Gladius & Walther Reign were 2 I was looking at. Probably looking for .25 cal also.
Any input would be appreciated. Been watching vids & reading, but want more real world input I guess. Looking to spend $500-$900 roughly. Thanks!!

I would consider the Reign. Also the Benjamin Akela is a nice Bullpup in your price range but it only comes in .22.

I have a .22 cal. Reign. Overall, nice gun. Accurate, easy to maintain, easy to shoot. Doesn't require a lot of high end maintenance like some do.

Like I've said before with this gun, the only sorta negative is the trigger pull. While it is smooth, has a good feelable second stage wall, and good let-off, the overall pull is somewhat hard. BUT, there is a very easy fix. Remove the right side of the stock, looking at the trigger, there is a black spring. Remove the spring, and replace it with a ball point spring that has been cut to the same length as the original. Done, put the stock back together and have fun shooting. Make the whole trigger MUCH better.

Other than that it's fairly light, the magazine can be inserted from either side (left or right hand shooters). The cocking mechanism (lever) is where it should be, above the trigger. The cocking arm can be swapped to the other side in about 5 minutes if you prefer it on the other side. It's smooth and firm, not sloppy at all.

The pressure gauge, or as some prefer to use its proper name "manometer" is on the right side, so you don't have to look down the barrel to read the gauge. The grip angle is at a very good/comfortable angle, unlike many sold today.

I'd buy again in a heartbeat. Especially considering the price, you can buy two for the cost of one of most other guns that don't offer anymore than a fancy name.

The Walther Reign especially in 25 caliber will most definitely have a very pronounced bell curve. If only shooting up to 25 yards its fine and the over 100fps - 120fps velocity spread won't matter on paper targets. Past that your number of useable shots will likely be very low and have to chrony it to see where the bell curve is so you know what max pressure to fill it to far below its max rated for sure.

In this rare instance I highly recommend a regulator for it if you want to shoot past 25 - 30 yards because apparently they aren't well engineered as unregulated guns where the Krals and Crosman Benjamin's and Brocock uand Daystate up to22up to 22 caliber unregulated guns except the are king. Even Korean guns and old FX and Theobens are flat shooting unregulated Kings that don't need regulators. Even Air Arms too once you know the bell curve pretty flat.

Pay attention especially at 2 minutes and he is reviewing a 22 caliber version that's not as bad as the 25 caliber.
