Works great for low recoil guns and quite effective for shooting chipmunks at 50 yards with my Crown. The anvil head works with both pic rails and ARCA rails. For bigger guns, there is a learning curve to loading the tripod to manage recoil effectively and it will never be as good as shooting prone from a bipod, but for hunting where you need to change position to shoot various directions or shoot over tall grass or bushes, it’s great.

I've been using a Caldwell Dead Shot Magnum tripod for several years. I've been using it to shoot ground squirrels. It's adjustable so you can shoot from prone to standing. Legs are easily adjustable and the feet have metal spikes the dig into the ground. Pan and tilt is very smooth. The cradle is adjustable to fit different length guns. The tripod is rock solid and easily collapse if you change your position in the field. Comes with a carry strap and weighs about 13 pounds.

I wish to read up on all of your experiences, expectations met or not.

James, I have gone down a path wanting more stability. I wan't Bench rest stability. If this is what you need, let us know what max/min height your looking for. Ernest Rowe has done the research. I have looked into the details he has posted and purchased these 3 components for a stable platform for my FX Maverick Sniper and WC MK3. I know your research savvy, so, carry on my friend.

Leofoto tripod is second to none. There are others and it will be purely personal preference. The Ball head I would say is good for the money at $90, but, there are many tiers that make up this necessary part. This was my starting point and I will now bump it up to the $200 range for the next level of smooth operation. $300 to $500 are the next levels and if this is what it takes, than I will oblige. This Tripod is setup for a 52mm Ball Head which, in my opinion, is the Minimum you need for support. More can be appreciated. 

The Picatinny to Arca-Swiss can be a little fussy as well and they come in ,from what I can tell, 2 slot and 3 slot designs. I got the 3 slot 60mm Leofoto to try first. . These designs are intended for major AR style PB's and I have found that on my FX WC MK3 the Pic screws on the mount are a little large for the slots and don't line up perfectly and ,well, I had to take out a bolt to align up the slots. Don't get me wrong, it is still solid and going nowhere. Just an observation with my MK3 and the WC FX Pic rail. My Maverick will handle the 3 slot just fine (When I get it back from FXUSA ) 

I have ordered this 2 slot to fit my WC with no mods needed I hope.

If I may suggest couple of things , get tripod with center column extendible , much easier and faster to slide column up and down then adjust three legs if you need to do adjustment quickly, also i will look in to clamp lockable legs then screw in

Those two things was mentioned to my while I was looking for my setup and I'm very happy with those futures,
