Looking for a nice "dot" sight that won't break the bank ?

Vortex SpitFire. Prism scope. #SPR-1301. Midway USA has them on sale right now. Optics Planet normally matches prices. Vortex has an "Unlimited, Unconditional Warranty", Their words, not mine..!
They call it a scope, but then it says 1x. So I'd say that makes it a sight, shoot both eyes open.. It has a spacer between the base and the body. You can take the spacer out for a shorter overall height.
Anyway, I put this on my Wildcat Mk III today, and I'm really liking it. It has a very small dot 3mm (it looks much smaller), then a 44nn ring, then a thin 140mm ring.
While that sounds "busy", it really isn't. One thing I was wondering about, My "range" is across my living room and down to the end of the hall (no windows). Or...I can lock the cats up, and open the back door to get about a 40yrd. range to the back of my hall. All this is to say, my range is pretty short on light. This sight WORKS, even in very low light. Then, turn the (red or green) turret and the black dot and rings glow red or green. From just barely to very bright. The dot and rings are VERY clear. One of the things that might make it a scope, it the reticle sharpness can be adjustable for your vision.
All this is to say, if you are looking for an inexpensive dot sight (scope), this is well worth it for you to check into.

primary arms makes a real nice one. eye relief is anything from 3-12 inches. can use with 2 eyes. but it is north of 100 bucks. but to me , worth it.

It would probably cost 1/2 to 1/3 that price if you can sniff out the SPINOFF for that one. Good choice rangur1 BTW... Yo!

Haha ill have to take some recent ones! But seriously this holosun rides in the back of the polaris and gets knocked around pretty hard and I havent touched it in a very long time

I use a similar as well and absolutely love it haha. It is the vortex spitfire 3x because my eyes can use the help lol. Mine is spr-1303 with the ebr-556b (moa) .
My second favorite for 40 yards and under is the holo-sun HS 503G acss cqb-m but I am getting spoiled to the vortex. I picked the holo-sun to use with the cheapo Bushnell night vision rig for an in expensive night vision rig so I could treat it ruff will hunting. I have since moved on but it worked fine until I could upgrade and I now use the Bushnell for spotting by themselves when I think it will rain at night haha they were under 200 bucks so no worries.

I use red dots, or Seeall sights on many of my break barrels. Here are a couple I use with success. None have failed even on my Magnums. I also gave link to SeeAll sights. Have three of them, very nice once you get past the learning curve.

Holosun is VERY good, and I have three with one more coming when released. I also have, in order of preference (after the Holosun) - Leupold - Delta Point Pro (2), EOTech 512 (1), Sig Sauer - Romeo 4 Solar, (1), Sig Sauer Romeo 1 (1), a different Vortex (1), Burris Fast Fire III (1). All have their places.
I was just throwing another one out there because I found it to "sight" very cleanly and quickly. Also cheaper than Holosun and most of the others I listed..!

I have to agree lol. These 2 have served me well . I did have to buy a 3x multiplier to seat behind the holosun for longer range shots beyond 50 yards but the vortex is my favorite so far the the money. Sometimes I just do not want the extra weight of the big scopes and this works wonders for me haha. It is my replacement for the iron sights as my eyesight is not that great . I will definitely pick up another 3x spitfire in the near future. I am hooked on the ability to shoot green and red with various brightness modes and then have the black as a backup if the battery goes out as opposed to the holosun . I still enjoy them but I hate having to remember to check for the spare bat. every time. haha

Finally got some time to use the sight on my new Wildcat Mk III.
I put a few magazines through my Mk III today. I really like this site (scope). My range is dimly lit so I tried the sight with no illumination, just black rings. Perfect. The retical rings are so clean and sharp, my not so black (grey) target bullseye is very easy to see. The back lens is adjustable for your eyesight.
I tried the colors, need to keep them on the lowest setting so as to not hide the target dots. I imagine that outside in the light of day, they'd provide a very good sight picture.
So, other than Holosun with their solar cell models, this is the only red dot sight that I know of that...if you have battery failure, the sight still works just fine.
Funny, it looks like the model I bought is discontinued. It's replacement is a few dollars more, but it now has buttons for the illumination and a AAA battery for power.
Well worth the money. I'd much rather spend a few dollars more for something like this than the $90 specials (I know, I have a couple). Hard to beat Vortex's guarantee and its capabilities. Yes, I still like my Holosun sights and won't be swapping them any time soon..! I just found...another...quality sight to add to my list of accessories.
