Looking down that brand new barrel

I waited too long as I had never worried about a barrel in the airgun Industry , or PB , But from now on as I buy anything new before I shoot the first time I will clean it , and look down the barrel as this Guantlet is only 31 days old , and I was looking down the barrel to see how shinny it was when my eyes seen a massive manufacturer defect where the it looked like the rifling twisted the wrong way for a inch , or so about 6" down from the muzzle. I have never seen anything like this at least it shoots dime size groups , and same hole groups when I try hard , and breath right. Never again will this happen to me I will Look down that new barrel first.

Any chance of a photo?

Any chance of a photo?
When I press attach files it goes to drive instead of the files where my photos are , only here on AGN though , and I have tried to solve the problem it did not used to do that I even got my AI to help with lots of work did not help. , and I don't have a camera bore scope either. Dang it I love to put up a pic of this.

Is there any chance that the file size of the photo is too large? Someone will know.

It would be interesting to see. My bore scopes aren't small enough for a .22 air gun bore, and I keep shuddering when I see the cost of one that is.

On the other hand, my granddaughter is a dental assistant...hmm, I wonder if they lend out their stuff? :ROFLMAO:

I swear if it didn't work so well I was thinking of putting a new barrel in there like a real one that's truly 281/4 , or longer , but it's just not worth it , so for now I'll use this 231/2" barrel it came with can't believe Umarex was able to get away with advertising a 281/4 , but that's with the shroud included as part of the barrel.

I'll be honest. I've been listening to some great Gospel music when I saw that heading,"Looking down that brand new barrel." Oh, yeah, brother, I never will be looking down that brand new barrel. Oh, yeah, amen.Oh, yeah, and it shoots dime-size groups. Brother, count your blessings. Maybe it is Gasalt.:D

If you had seen the defect you'd have returned it. May or may not have gotten another that accurate or worse made you feel airguns couldn't be that accurate. I see people shoot tiny groups, then buy a chronograph and see numbers that make them think somethings wrong. Chase a chronograph string spending hours tuning and buying upgraded parts rather than shoot the same tiny groups they were.

My G2 didn't shoot tiny groups.
My G2's rifling defect was in the transfer from the chamber to the rifling, or no chamfer. So the rifling peels lead fragments that foul the barrel, and make the bolt hard to close. I sent it for warranty and they said that it was in spec. So replaced it with an FX Crown.

Cheap (but functional) bore scopes are available from Amazon. I got one a while ago that works great for my airguns.

here's a link to one on the Canadian Amazon site...

look up Teslong , many models, very affordable, I have one of the first ones they came out with. I think it was around $60 back then, down load soft ware plugs in to lap top , or phone, I have 25/35 10" TC barrell looks terrible inside about 1/2way down ( someone must of stuck a bullet and messed up lands and such getting it out, Even then it shoots about 1.5" groups at 100 yards when I do my part. Use it for small game and larger vermin like masked bandits. Jacketed bullets, never tried casting that small a pill.

Will the mirror attachments also fit in .22 airgun barrel? If so, I am tempted to order the link. I have some which look like that, but they won't fit into a .22 airgun barrel.
The advertisement says that it will fit a .22, just be sure to read the fine print.

The Teslong that I got a couple of years ago was around $50 and works with the included mirror attachments.

The adertising on mine also indicated that, which is why I want to confirm that it will fit the bore of a .22 air gun. The muzzle choke is an additional problem, as you know. I'm very tempted to purchase but my experience suggests that it may not fit.
