20 ft up in my back yard I see this fatboy hanging out on a limb eating my invasive vines in the back yard.

That’s a groundhog or woodchuck. The only animal I regretted shooting was a woodchuck sunning itself in a tree over a farm field. Some of them can climb trees, not like squirrels, but climb just the same.

Yeah its a ground hog. I have seen him a few times in the neighbor's yard and figured he lived under their shed. She cleared out a bunch of brush around the shed to see further in the woods since we had a homeless mope try to set up camp in our woods. Guess the groundhog moved into my back yard since it is so dense with brush. Just never figured them for tree climbers.

If it’s not digging under your building and eating invasive vines then maybe leave it be?…….for now.

Groundhogs can climb pretty well. Had one rush up a tree like it was nothing a few years back. I was caught very off guard by that.

Our dog treed a woodchuck years back and up until then I’d never have thought them to be able to climb like that.

I've got a family of 4 chucks living in my backyard. They've taken up residence in the craters under the rootballs of a couple of fallen trees in my backyard. Fun to watch. I let the dogs harass them so they don't get too comfortable getting close to the house. So far so good. But I have a plan to kill them if I need to.
