Long ranging practicality.

Lavender cropping this last week at the farm. Took time out late Tuesday afternoon.

Rabbit laser ranged 164 yards - just one shot; ( no ranging shot as taken on the 228 yd rabbit some time ago using the lighter Kings ).

FX Elite with .25 BSA Bowkett barrel; 33.9 gr JSB Heavy King pellet at MV 796 fps 47.6 fpe.
My tests at farm altitude 3,640 ft (depending on temperature) show Chairgun BC as 0.055 to 75 yards; but beyond 100 yd I find a better Chairgun BC input, with this BSA barrel, is 0.075.

For this shot, in still afternoon air, I used 0.075 BC which was + 136 clicks from 50 yd zero.
Energy at rabbit according to Chairgun was 30.6 fpe at 637 fps. As expected the pellet exit was a big hole too. The wound shown in the pic is the entry hole. So if you are missing high with these pellets at extreme ranges (edit ie., using the lower BC and associated larger click numbers ), perhaps try a higher BC input after doing the necessary drop test.
A Very Merry Christmas wish to all of you .... Harry.

Some reading for those who worry about the accuracy of Chairgun and Dave's development:

Still kicking Alan - turned 80 earlier this year.
Still experimenting and researching pellet ballistics but don't share so much . A lot of personal satisfaction though and plenty of new things to explore.
In the context of this OP the furthest rabbit kill, with one sighter shot, stands at 228 yards in still air.

Will perhaps report here after I receive my FX Crown which left Sweden in July and is presently with Customs in Melbourne.
Take care and keep enjoying our recreation. ... kind regards, Harry.
