Lollipop target stands

At our Sportsmen’s club we run a Junior Sportsmen’s program Spring through fall. We alternate weekly, one week archery, the next week firearms (.22s and BB guns). Brought these out for the kids to shoot. They were a huge success, though the kids ate more lollipops than they shot. They really loved pulverizing them definitely a fun shoot tonight.

There really is nothing I have found yet which gives the 'explosive' reaction of a lollipop hit - and if the wind is right you get the 'sweet smell of success' after the shot! Plus the extra bonus of them sounding just like when you pop a ground squirrel in the noggin.

Some new shooters I have introduced to PCPs are now getting to the point where these are just too easy at only 25-35 yards. Even though I make them cut the stick before moving onto the next pop. It still amazes many who are new to air guns that they can actually do that!

So we're only going to use them now with new shooters, or out past 40 yards for a bit more challenge.

But since 25 yards is convenient in my back yard range, we have now moved to smaller targets. For scale, the little skulls are 9.5mm wide, and the sticks are ~1.95mm wide:

These definitely don't provide the satisfying 'thwack' of the lollipops, and many jump out of their holes when hit (no chance for a second shot, to the stick), but they are still fun, reactive, challenging and easy to set up. And like the lollipops, you sometimes can't help but laugh out loud when someone hits one.

Oh, and what happens to the pops when you hit them?
