This is a little off bunps, But I tried to help a young man out a while back,,,
I said your new gun is not new its used, All the new updated parts are not new there used, and the 10 hours you have working on the gun is your free time ,,, Try and take everything off and sell used at 75-50 % off , also your used gun 80 to 50 % off , Or just make a super good deal on all the gun used stuff,
He got pretty pissed at me and said I was trying to low ball him, I was not buying nothing ,,,,
I voted once so I can't vote again,,,,
Mike
Suggesting anyone sell their items 50-80% off is crazy, I can see 30-50% depending on age and condition. Anything above 50% would steer me clear thinking it's likely in bad shape or in need of repair.

Yes it should have read 25-to 50 % off, Yes a used 2000 dollar gun starts at 1,500 a couple years old and the new ones have been up graded 1000, bucks
and scratches or damage to the gun it goes down a lot more,,
I have a Notos that I have spent over 900 dollars on plus the 295 Bucks for the gun, The gun is worth maybe 195 dollars That does not make the gun worth 1950. dollars , I got 10n hours labor 600 dollars , If I was a good sales man I might get 500 dollars for the 300 dollar gun...Any part you put on a gun is about 25 %,, You might take it off and try and recap a little more money

Now that I can fully agree on.

After reading these multiple threads on this subject, I have now started to block users who continue to list items at incorrect (for the market) prices, some since 2023.

One thing that I don't understand is the change when this site switched over to the new software a few years ago.

Why the weekly nag to renew your classified ad???

Personally I use the search function if I am looking for something specific, and I will find it whether it is on page 2 or page 20. When I sold stuff on the site's old software, I just let it drop down as nature intended, eventually either selling it or changing it to NLA status.

I think that the 'renew your ad' site nag leads to more post BUMPs than are necessary.

If you want to filter the Classified Section to EXCLUDE BUMP posts... set your Filter option to

Note on this page how the number of replies is more than 1 for most posts. The classified section only allows the OP to reply to the thread - this shows hoe many times these ads have been "bumped"

I think OP’s issue is that his ad’s getting buried quickly so nobody sees it. People have to know everything you posted above and must intentionally set those filters to only see new ads. I’ve been a member for like three years and never knew about the option to filter ads by original posts only. What do you figure the percentage of others who know about this option are, maybe 5% (optimistically)?

I don’t sell a ton here so I don’t have a dog in this fight often, just playing devil’s advocate here. :) But thanks for the above info!

I realize there have been a few threads on this over the past year. I haven't sold anything on here for a bit and thus haven't paid much attention to the ad bumps when browsing. After posting two items a few days ago I was amazed to see how quickly they disappeared off the first page to literally be lost in a sea of ad renewals. The most frustrating part of this is that I believe about 30-40% of the ads had been bumped over 20 times with a large portion bumping 40 to 50 times or more.

This means these ads have been up for over a year and not sold. IMO either the item isn't going to sell, is priced too high, or there is some other seller related quirk to the ad turning people off. Whatever the reason - to have my ad buried with in hours stuff that isn't selling is discouraging.

I've added a poll and I hope the mods will take into consideration some modification of the process to make new items more apparent.
I completely agree with limiting the number of times an add can be renewed. After a certain number of renewals, the add should include a price reduction. Allowing adds to remain up with zero changes, but 20 renewals is ridiculous. It makes it harder for potential buyers to find items

I agree that the guys who’ve had the same ad up for literally years with no price changes can be super annoying. But honestly, now it just makes me laugh and wonder if their wives told them they had to sell something, so they list their guns (older gen models, mind you) at near retail so they can tell her “it’s for sale, but hasn’t had any bites!” :ROFLMAO:

I am more in favor of limiting how many times a topic can be beaten to death.

For Jimminy's sake, it's a FREE website that allows you to buy and sell with some super vision to keep the scammers out.

You can set your filter. It's on you to make your environment tolerable. Do not for a second think that your preference takes priority.
