I realize there have been a few threads on this over the past year. I haven't sold anything on here for a bit and thus haven't paid much attention to the ad bumps when browsing. After posting two items a few days ago I was amazed to see how quickly they disappeared off the first page to literally be lost in a sea of ad renewals. The most frustrating part of this is that I believe about 30-40% of the ads had been bumped over 20 times with a large portion bumping 40 to 50 times or more.

This means these ads have been up for over a year and not sold. IMO either the item isn't going to sell, is priced too high, or there is some other seller related quirk to the ad turning people off. Whatever the reason - to have my ad buried with in hours stuff that isn't selling is discouraging.

I've added a poll and I hope the mods will take into consideration some modification of the process to make new items more apparent.

Bumps are just documented depreciation. Yes it can be frustrating when you’re trying to sell something. But if you’re selling something at a legit used price, guys will find it on page 10 and contact you. I say leave it alone just for the entertainment value. Some stuff needs a reseal it’s been for sale so long.

I prefer not have to manually go through and block people I have no overall issue with - they may be valuable contributers to the forum with slightly off valuations.......

I really think pushing to a 1 month bump would be a small but viable simple across the board change.

As I view the Classfieds right now the top 4 threads have:
- 90 renewals
- 104 renewals
- 2 renewals
- 74 renewals
That's over 1.5 years - if it ain't selling it ain't selling and the seller needs to spin the wheel and buy a clue (Wheel of Fortune reference for those too young to know).

This is a little off bunps, But I tried to help a young man out a while back,,,
I said your new gun is not new its used, All the new updated parts are not new there used, and the 10 hours you have working on the gun is your free time ,,, Try and take everything off and sell used at 75-50 % off , also your used gun 80 to 50 % off , Or just make a super good deal on all the gun used stuff,
He got pretty pissed at me and said I was trying to low ball him, I was not buying nothing ,,,,
I voted once so I can't vote again,,,,

There are MANY old adds that stay in listings that haven’t been renewed or updated in years. I would love to know the rationale for this…

Sunken cost syndrome at its finest. Unfortunately they don’t make medication for it. I try to practice a couple preventative measures against the syndrome. One, don’t buy stuff you can’t easily afford. Two, don’t get emotionally attached to material things. You insulted his baby or the hole punched in his credit card. So he started calling you names. Funny, but a very common symptom of the syndrome.
