Light Slugs in a Pellet Barrel?

Both examples are maybe kinda distorted, since the weight is so different between slug and pellet.

I had some slugs delivered today that are more similar I'm weight to the 25.4gr pellet. When I get a chance to shoot them I'll share the speed difference. I've since tuned the gun down to be more like 890-900fps with the 25.4gr pellets.

I don't expect the fpe difference to be quite so drastic when the slugs weigh about what the pellets do.
I shoot later today aswell with 33.95 JSB and 33.49gr JSB knockouts with same tune. My gun should be tuned now for ~905fps for 33.95gr JSB pellets.

I tested again 33.95gr JSB King Heavy and 33.49gr JSB Knockout. Exactly same settings, 10 shots each:

JSB 33.95gr King Heavy (AVG 904fps)

I had it worked out and saved for my 22 cal Hybrid vs pellets but haven't done it for the 25.
Pellets started out with higher FPE close but it bled off fairly quickly as opposed to the FPE of the slugs which despite being lighter retained more energy and had a higher FPE down range. I'll have to redo it for the .25 cal projectiles. I didn't save the .22.

Edit.......just calculated it. The difference isn't as much as I remembered but the slug FPE is two pounds higher than the pellets at 100 yards per my app.

I just went out and chrono'd 28 shots with the 33.95 gr pellets and the 26 gr slugs.
The data is from the table of the Element Ballistics app

Projectile muzzle 50 yards 100 yards 150 yards

Pellet 907/62 793/47 703/37 626/29.5

Slug 985/56 895/43 825/39 765/33.8

Yeah, that's the awesomeness of slugs.... 😃
Start with a lower energy than the pellet — and finish with a higher energy....
Slug magic!! 😃
The much higher BC makes it possible.

Is it worth trying a lightweight slug (20-23 grain in .22) in a pellet barrel for 75-100 yard targets? Or is it always better to get a slug specific barrel?
I have had good luck shooting FX hybrids and some NSA slugs out of choked pellet liners. With most NSA slug weights you can pick the diameter.
