We got dozens of grackles around the house all of a sudden. I hate grackles. Very destructive to songbird eggs and chicks. I started with one for a decoy and they are coming in often. Easy 20 yard pickings offhand. There is a litter of fox pups that just came out of the den. The female takes the birds away for the last three nights. The den is about 100 yds. from the house. She is going to need some help with that eight pup litter. Happy to oblige.

How cool is that you are saving songbirds and helping those young kits get a good healthy start at life.... Good for you... I love seeing the smaller predators, they all get a pass from me.

Picked off a Grackle today about 40 yard shot. Not my best shot placement and as a result he was hopping on the ground. As I was aiming for the coup de grâce a redtail hawk swooped in and took care of it for me.

Nice! I had that happen a couple of times with a bald eagle, hawks and a few prairie dogs last fall.

Go get a bottle of formaldyhyde and a hypo syringe. Put your dead birds in the position you want and inject the hell out of them. Give em a week or more and they turn stone hard! I need to do that with some starlings for decoys. Havent done it since a 10 year old,I'm 66 now.
