Leupold VX-Freedom 3-9x33 EFR is coming!

Leupold discontinued making the VX-2 3-9x33 EFR and it wasn't a sure thing they would bring them back. I've been bidding on (and losing) a few of the old models on ebay. The darn things tend to sell used for over the original manufacturers price! Looks like they are being added to the new VX-Freedom line. I'll be picking one up for my Leshiy. Unfortunately, the duplex reticle appears to be the only option unless you go the custom shop route. I wish I liked Leupold's reticles better. They are my favorite scope company.

With a $15 coupon and free shipping it is only $285. The old VX-2 ran about $400. Nice! I ordered one but will have to wait until the end of summer to get it.

Do you think it will be the same quality as the old scope?

I've heard that the Freedom line uses VX-2 quality glass with the twilight enhancing coatings. I don't know if it will be as light as the old VX-2.

The turret body appears a bit more "blocky" than the old VX-2. I think it will look nice on the Leshiy.

The link at Optics Planet does not say that the scope is EFR. I'll need to do a little digging. I have a VX-2 3-9x33 LR Ultralight that has a fixed parallax that is perfect for the powder-burner I have it mounted to, but that is pretty useless for an air rifle. If they make a model that is not EFR, best make sure to get the EFR model.

Hmmmmm, I bet it isn’t EFR if it’s not mentioned in the write up. The turrets look like they’ll be easier to use on the new one.

This is a great scope for the money. It is EFR so focus's down to 10 yards at 9x. It focuses quite a bit closer at 3x. It is as clear and sharp as my VERY expensive March scope at the same magnifications. It is everything I hoped it would be and It is by far my favorite compact scope.

Just ordered one and am pumped to finally get my hands on a Leupold. There just aren't many Leupold scopes that fit the bill for airguns and I have previously needed more mag. than 9x. I just ordered a .177 Leshiy and figured this would be the perfect scope to use on it. Thanks mmahoney.

I'm looking to put one of the 2-7 versions on an AA S410 TDR. I kind of want to try the quick detach rings. Is there a way to figure out whether to get the low, super low, etc rings so that the scope will fit properly on the gun?

The key is to have mounts that clear the magazine indexing system. I have found that it sticks up too high for my preferred low mounts. Any measuring you do will need to make sure that the scope body clears that indexing system. The bell size of the scope itself is of minimal importance because of the oversized height of the indexing system.

Hey Christophson, the 2-7x33 does not have an adjustable AO does it? Just keep that in mind as it may not focus in at close range (though it might on the lower mag. settings). I believe the Leupold rimfire scopes (without AO) have the parallax set to 60 yards.



I got my 3-9x33 a couple days ago and it appears to be an excellent scope. Glass is very clear and bright! Just got the Leshiy today so I'll try it out this weekend.
