This scope has been on my wish list for a long time. I'm considering it once again, this time for use on a hunter class field target rifle. Can any users share their experience of how well it ranges distance? Thanks.

Leupold 6.5-20x40 EFR Ranging

I have used these scopes shooting small bore silhouette. I thought they would be perfect for hunter field target. I bought a new model, sent it to the custom shop to get a new reticle. Then played with it for awhile. Ranging is tough because the picture doesn’t snap into focus. There is a broad adjustment area where the target is pretty good optically. So you can be off a few yards either way. The reticle I got is too busy for me. My eyes try to focus on all the dots then back and forth to the target. Then I have a headache. The scope lives in a box in the garage. Money not well spent. I use a Sightron big sky and like it much better. But it’s not what I want just better for me. So I’m still looking. Hope something there was useful

Which reticle did you get?
I had this scope w standard duplex, and sold it. Really wish I had sent it to the custom shop.
Like you, still chasing the holy grail of great lightweight scope w some sort of ranging reticle.
