Great topic, not a caliber war, just discussion of usage.

I voted 22 only kuz that is the current flavor.

Reality for me, one gun can do all I need.
.177 HW30 or for big power the HW95.
But then I keep buying more guns for specific purposes.

Three of 5 pcp are 22.
My next purchase will be a higher end .177
It must have the ability to be easily tuned down for shooting wad cutters, back up for pellets and up more for slugs. Never played with slugs before.
The gun will need to be light and small like a Prod.

It will be 177 even though I am enjoying 22 at the moment.

If I ever escape from the suburbs, I will move to a .30 for special occasions.

Im a bit confused
Well last time i shot, i slipped some JSB heavy in my Maverick with a heavy liner, and wouldn't you know shooting 75 M getting them on the 2" shoot N see target was not hard at all.
I am for sure going to try that again later this year.
Mind you the parachute shaped diabolo have probably lost more speed arriving at that distance VS a slug.

Even if i did have a rat crawling around at 75 / 100 M, i would probably sneak up to it and shoot it from a shorter distance.
I do zero my scoped at 50 M.

I voted for .22 because the title of the poll is "If you had to pick 1!!".

However, I like all calibers from .177 to 30-06 equally. They are all tools in my toolbox and I have fun with my tools.

My favorite can basher is my HW50 in .22. It knocks the hell out of a can at 13 fpe at 50 yards and deals with the wind better than a zippy .177.

Also Crosman .22 pellets are available everywhere at very reasonable prices. They seem to do pretty well in most rifles.

YMMV
Well shoot!
Pardon the pun.
If I was going to pick my favorite caliber, I am very fond of my .44 mag.

always wanted to get the 20 Sheridan.. she was a beauty.. I guess they are not made anymore?
if you want backyard friendly PCP 22 I'd highly recommend the umarex notos.. the factory moderator makes it as quiet or more so than a springer.. price is really reasonable too..

Sheridan's are still out their. I just picked up a non functional 1955 Sheridan Blue Streak, from a pawn shop in Oklahoma, for about 55 percent of the going nonfunctional ebay price. I had it shooting, and made video with it, 45 minutes after Fedex left it. It needed a pump plunger. I can't tell you how fond I am of this gun as a shooter, not necessarily a collection piece.
The sight being set so high is a sure tell sign that it was loosing power, the last time it was used.

Other.
.20 fits in perfect between the other two. My quick grab is a HW97K in .20.

But also it depends on the purpose.
For basement just plinking around .177
Field target .177
10m pistol only .177
Hunting (squirrel) it’s a .22
Also have a mix of .22 crosman pistols, and .177 multipump rifles.

So all of them. But if can only pick just 1, then it is .20
