“less expensive” bipod with “cant”

Good luck making a decision... Amazon, inexpensive Bi-Pods

This one is an inexpensive copy of the one linked to below here... Atlas clone $35

A real Atlas bi-pod $220

One of our experienced AGN Benchrest shooters ( Tomcat ), has some very good bipod reviews on his YouTube channel. You might also PM him for his thoughts. Tom knows bipods!

Good luck.

Hi @tipton1947

In this video, I separate the bipods I tested into 2 categories. 1) Up to $150 and 2) $150-$320ish.

I rated these based on performance vs. price and share which ones I think are the best, and why. I also go over a little bit of why the others were eliminated.

Clones will be the most inexpensive route but, they leave a lot to be desired in the performance area. You mentioned wanting cant. The https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MYEtLVBZLo&t=4s had a cant feature that would not lock into place. I realize clones are attractive due to the price. But, do some research on them beforehand.

Good luck with your choice!

Tom

I buy those Atlas clones all day at $35.00 and make them function as smooth as the $220.00 original Atlas bipod. I take some wet/dry sandpaper to smooth out the swivel and pan function of the ball and socket so both are a matching set, and I add a large rubber washer to restrict swivel travel. I also put Loctite on the adjuster nut threads to lock it in place once I have determined what the perfect tension is on the system. Some have taken a lot of elbow grease to make function smoothly. Keep in mind, once the adjuster nut has Loctite applied and cured it will not function as a locking bipod does, but I don't need to ever lock them in place.

Ditto+++ They work for cheap.

The clones can be improved to a point to being almost as good as the originals if and when done properly. You need to own both in order to determine if the clone (after being reworked and improved upon) is good enough for your needs. Fresh out of the box the genuine one wins hands down no question.

It is almost like comparing a $30 Beeman P17/2004 to the $210-$260 P3/HW40 PCA.

I have a UTG PRO TBNR. $160 at P.A. They claim "The UTG PRO® TBNR™ is the first bipod engineered and manufactured entirely in the US by the Michigan-based scope and weapons-accessory company. Yes it costs more than a Chinese clone, but if it keeps Americans employed, to me it's worth it.

The only thing I don't like, it attaches with a 1/2" bolt rather than a throw lever. If you want to remove it in the field, you need a wrench.

I own a Impact expensive airgun, however I bought the clone (atlas) added some grease, lock tighted some screws once I found the perfect tension and works fine for me. I'm know some call Trader when buying these and I'm sure the quality isn't near that of the Atlas.

But I use mine not that often but it's fine for me.

Kinda like Harbor Freight tools, fine for occasional and light duty, but if you must have a tool for life and can justify the cost you buy Snap On.

I have an Atlas knockoff and it's decent but was too squiggly for me so I knocked the squiggle out of it. Easy fix.

I also got a UTG Shooter's SWAT Bipod and permanently removed any squiggle / wiggle by cutting the legs off and re-welding them pointing forward and increasing the stance to 7".

The stance is where we got cheated because I don't want my "precious" flopped over on the hardwood floor either!!!
