Recently I purchased an Edgun Leshiy Classic and a few days later a buddy offered me a deal on an FX Dreamline Compact. First world problems for sure.

He are my thought on the two if anyone is interested. I figure they are kind of the same category with different execution.

Both are .22, both are shooting around 17 fpe, both seem to like the JSB 13.4 and both are black.

The Leshiy has the Huma 12 fpe regulator and hammer spring. Scope is a 3-9 UTG.

The Dream Compact has a much better Bushnell Elite 6400 4-16. All else is stock other than the DonnyFL Emperor. It is way overkill but I already had it.

Things I like about the Leshiy. It is brilliant in it’s simplicity and it feels so solid. I changed out the reg and hammer spring for the Huma in under 15 minutes. Love how easy it is to work in. Love the gauge.

Things I don’t like about the Leshiy. Number one dislike is the trigger. It is nice and light but the lack of any kind of second stage added to the length of pull makes it work to shoot accurately. Second is how far you have to close the cylinder to get it to set the trigger. I looked all over trying to find a riser/rail extension to mount a bipod forward some. The one I got had the mounting bolts on the opposite side of what was shown online. They had the image flopped.

This means when I cock the rifle the mounting bolts hit the cylinder. It work but slightly annoying. I wish grips were not so expensive, I would love some wood.

Things I like about the Dream Compact. Trigger is really nice. Cocking is probably the smoothest I have used. 20 plus shot magazine. Love the options for all the AR grips and for a little more $ adding an AR stock

Things I don’t like about the Dream Compact. Number one has to be the small rail on the bottom. With the compact the cylinder blocks the front of the rail. So you need a riser then a rail if you want to push the bipod forward at all. The other thing and I think they changed this later is the shroud is different meaning if you want a factor FX bottle you have to change the shroud. On a rifle that is supposed to be all about flexibility this seems like someone missed a detail. Also, the FX gauges are trash. My tank gauge sticks at 150bar.

Comparing the two they are close in length but the Compact will be longer once you ad an ldc. The Leshiy is already there. Accuracy I would say the FX mostly because of the difference in triggers. They are both very easy to adjust but the FX having the wheels makes it easy to go from normal power down to 6 or 7 fpe.

Both have their challenges for scopes. The magazine on the FX sits high. I had to use the FX adjustable mounts to clear my scope. The Leshiy has the shroud raise up so basically the same issue as the FX.

The Leshiy feels bombproof compared to the FX. That is not a knock to the FX but an acknowledgment of how sturdy the Leshiy feels.

Which do I like better? I really like both. If I was shooting targets past 50 yards the FX. If I was walking around shooting rat, pigeon or squirrels under 50 yards I would grab the Leshiy. If I had it use either as a club to defend myself for sure the Leshiy.

The FX will cost me way more to shoot. The 22 pellet mag will swollew a tin of pellets before the Leshiy has even used its first fill of air. Obviously the Leshiy 2 solves this.

Anyway, just my opinion of two black compacts built in Europe. I also had a PP700. My Cheshiy. If I was going to have one to keep in a tackle box that would have been it.

Sorry for the blown out pictures. The golden hour isn’t for a few more.

Great comparison. I’ve never shot a dreamline, but my leshiy classic is my go to for walking through the woods for squirrel and chippers. It’s accurate, but you got it about that trigger. There is a trigger mod to trick you into thinking it’s 2 stage. I’m going to try it myself. I too have the huma sub 12. Haven’t ran mine over the chrony yet, but it’s shooting cphp out of the .22 350mm barrel at what feels like a respectable speed, and accurate out to 45 yards so far (which is awesome for the cost of those pellets).
when I shot it in .25 250mm barrel with polymags, it was just as accurate, but noticeably slower.
I didn’t buy the leshiy as a powerhouse, I bought it for just this. My impact is setup for longer range stuff, and my wildcat is now a powerhouse for mid size game. The leshiy outshines them both in compactness and weight. I find myself taking the leshiy everywhere.

Wildcj5 you did a great comparison between the two and madeintheuk pointed out the simple engineering behind the L1 as a light weight field carry game taker. I also had looked all over trying to find a riser/rail extension to mount a bipod as far forward as possible. This is what I finally settled on, it still just barely touches when trying lock onto the magnet when cocking. https://www.ebay.com/itm/381966308816

@wildcj5

If both the Leshiy Classic and Dreamline were to be discontinued tomorrow and you had to get rid of one, which one would you keep?

If I had to choose I would keep the FX. Only because I do way more target shooting than walk and stalk. If I was more of a hunter or pest guy I would keep the Leshiy. Fortunately I can keep both.

At least you don't have to make that decision because I would hate to part with any of my current PCPs'. Except for my springers lol.

Nice comparison! I came close getting the L1 a few times but I do like having a big mag and the easy tuning. If your FX gauge sticks just call FX and they will send you a new one. Then trade your emperor for a sumo and it’s a whole new gun and fantastic for walk and stalk. I’m sure L1 is better for walk and stalk but having the ability for a quick follow up shot is nice and the DTC is now slouch either. Glade you are keeping both as this world already have way too much me vs you, they vs them……let’s all just get along.

Also happen to love the PP700 which makes justifying a L1 kinda hard.

Got the very same rail, was listed as a ad on for the Leshiy on airgunheaven, but that's an easy fix, just punch out those bolt stems and mount them from the other side

Im a big fan of the Leshiy classic. In fact its my favorite of my lot. I even prefer it over my EvoL hps. Its the basics that make it, in a way so perfect for what it is. My thoughts on the trigger are a bit different. I love it and have experienced no creep in the pull. Dont really mind not having a dual stage trigger on it. It works perfectly for what it is. I shoot it out to 70 yards give or take a bit often with a .177 set up on the 250mm barrel and 13 grain JSBs. Its on the mark with pigeons and even sparrows. Its a fine little airgun that packs the punch of many of the bigger ones. The simplicity of it is what makes it so great. The few FX airguns I have handled worried me. Like there should be a label on it that says fragile as eggs, Handle with care.
