Leshiy classic scope setup

What’s everyone using? I’ve been looking into lpvo options, but are they really needed? I want a variable magnification optic for sure, but there’s some other good options that don’t have 1x power options.
I think there is more need for compactness, and weight than 1x magnification, but I do want illuminated.
no interest at red dots or fixed power right now, so let’s see everyones variable optic choices!!

Cyclops Joe did a review on these and I took a shot at 1-8 Blackhound for my MK2.

Lol, I actually asked you in a different post how the eyebox is. I saw some complaints on eye relief being a little short or tough to get acquisition on. How is it for you?

I just replied!! Haha. I had an issue when I tried to use my FX no limit rings but when I switched to theirs, Blackhound sends you scopes rings, I had zero issues. It is a .5 not .25 MOA but gives you 80 MOA of adjustment.

with turret caps off and it dials nice with solid clicks and no mushy turrets. When I saw Cyclops Joe do his review I got one and for $450 it is solid. I have Element, Hawke, ATN, Athlon and Sightron scopes.
I had problems with the Hawke Sidewinder and had to send it back under warranty and got it back still not working properly, so it's a paperweight now. The others have been great but for a small compact rifle the Blackhound is extremely well built and tracks awesome while holding zero...

Just saw. Lol.
how about parallax errors? Can it focus down real low? Or does the fixed parallax give you issues? I know it’s hard to find an lpvo scope with adjustable parallax, but I e been on this hunt for a decent budget lpvo for a while now, and the biggest worry for me is parallax error.

Blackhound has you zero at 25 yards and it relates to 100 yards as well. If you use higher magnification at 25 and under it gets fuzzy but if you lower the magnification to 3 or so everything is clear.
Been waiting to get back to the range to test out this new ammo I have and will let you see how it fairs at much shorter distances. My yard range is 30 yards and I have no issues shooting in close and that's with dialing as I don't like trying to do holds anymore.

I've on the hunt for an LPVO for my Classic Leshiy. Not because I need 1x but because they are the only scopes I can mount low enough for my high cheek bones.

I'm not against coming up with a cheek riser but I haven't found the right scope for that either.

I hike nearly every day which is why I went with the Leshiy. I strongly prefer having a scope with long enough eye relief that I can mount even with the hinge point. So far the only two I've found that fit are the Konus AS34 (fixed parallax) and the Burris Timberline 4.5-14x32. The Burris has a narrow FOV and a somewhat tight eye box but I'm hoping with the right rings and a small cheek riser I can get comfortable with it.

The various 2-12x32 scopes by Tac Vector, Kandar and Bosma look like they'd have enough eye relief but they're all discontinued and heavy as I recall. IOR Valdada made one as well.

If you don't mind the scope hanging off the back slightly or can crane you neck forward comfortably with other scopes then you'll have more options.

As far as parallax error, it should be minimized with a smaller objective. I have a Styrka 1-6x24 with side parallax and turning the side focus is much more subtle than say my Vector 3-12x44. I would gladly widen my search to include fixed parallax LPVOs but would want one where I could adjust the parallax ring to a closer distance.

I believe the best you can put on the Leshiy is the March 1.5-15x42. The small footprint allows it to fit without dwarfing the Leshiy. The optics are so clear, the low light performance so good, and the mag range so versatile that the scope will accomplish any type of shooting the Leshiy is capapble of. The price tag is tough to swallow, but if looking for the ulitimate Leshiy scope, I don't think it can be beat. Ironically, my 14 year-old son prefers a $30 red dot on his Leshiy because he likes to keep his gun as light as possible and never really shoots past 25 yards.

I was excited to try a Vortex Spitfire 5x HD prismatic scope on the Leshiy. I took the Leshiy down to a local gun shop and they let me mount it to the gun to test before buying. Unfortunately, unless you don't mind jutting your neck forward several inches like a giraffe, the short eye relief of the Spitfire is a no-go.

If I were to put a scope on the Leshiy that didn't break the bank, the Optisan CP 3-12x32 is the way I'd go.

Anyone try the mtc viper connect on a leshiy? I know there’s no eye relief so to speak, but I could see it being a compact and light pair to use. I know Ted has a video, but he can’t be the ONLY one to try this duo!

I also had seen Ted's video combo and since I had a Viper Connect 3-12x24 sitting around when I got my Leshiy Classic. I tried it on the gun, but it wasn't a good match for me. I have never liked the rubber accordion eye cup on that scope for any gun I've tried it on, and that was no different on the Leshiy. Then I weighed the darned thing and it was (surprising to me) a lot heavier than the other candidate scope I had - A Vector Optics Veyron 3-12x44 FFP.

I actually like the Veyrons better in SFP, but that's just a personal preference (and my SFP one is already in use on my .22 M3 Compact). Very functional, compact and relatively light weight scopes for my intended use (ground squirrels out to about 45 yards). This new-to-me gun & scope combo (shooting Hades pellets) accounted for 4 of 9 taken at the range last weekend. Man, with those Hades pellets it was immediately lights out for those destructive little rodents.

My other favorite compact scope is the Optisan CP 3-12x32 P. It is actually my favorite of the 3 (the others being the SFP and FFP Veyrons) compact scopes I have owned. The Optisan almost seems wasted on my .30 M3 Compact since I had to put the big FALX onto the gun to quiet it down.

But this gun/scope combo (shooting standard 44.75 round nose pellets) accounted for the other 5 ground squirrels last weekend. And the way the M3 is set up, I am faster with it getting on target and taking the shot, whereas with the Leshiy (my first squirreling session with it), I missed taking some shots when I couldn't get settled on target fast enough (and I didn't want to just be out there wounding).

Anyway, those are the compact scopes I like on my compact guns.

Fantastic in depth response THM. THANKYOU.

I actually have a discovery 3-12x44 ffp on my impact mk2 compact, and I LOVE it, but wanted illumination for the reticle, so it didn’t get lost as easy at low power. I’ve been looking at the LPVO scopes for their large field of view for fast acquisition, but it seems these veyrons and discoveries give you more for less money. I’ll look into the options also.
this is the sort of info I was looking for. Thankyou!

FYI - The 3-12X44 Discovery HD compact comes with an IR. I assume yours is the VT-3?

Yes, I have the vt3. I do actually have that scope on my short list.

Poor man’s LPVO, Alpha6 1-6 on poor man’s Leshiy. Great glass with excellent eye box, I’ve returned 5 much higher priced LPVO scopes or every single LPVO I bought after the Alpha6. That includes swapfox arrowhead 1-10, crimson trace made in Japan 1-6 and 3 other scopes I don’t even remember. Only down side is the center dot is a little big.

Is it illuminated? I’ll be using it primarily in the woods, and the reticles tend to get lost in the trees!
